Site Acquisition Specialist

**Position Overview**: *
We are looking for a Site Acquisition Specialist for our Calgary, AB office and or Remote. The Site Acquisition Specialist will prospect, identify and negotiate agreements for communication sites suitable for the deployment of our fixed wireless broadband and fiber optics internet services. Working closely with the regional Deployment Planner, Project Manager, RF Engineer’s and Fiber Planners, the Site Acquisition Specialist will identify existing vertical structures suitable for deployment of our fixed wireless equipment. You will coordinate external Site Acquisition vendors or negotiate with tower owners while working with the RF team to assess the locations broadcast suitability in any given region. You may sometimes be required to meet with town council members, municipalities or local representatives in efforts to secure tower locations inside their communities. This role will sometimes require short periods of travel to provinces as-well.
**Key responsibilities include**:
- Collaborate and coordinate telecommunication site selection processes for fixed wireless towers (including search ring, civil/RF qualification analysis, etc.)
Manage site leasing and acquisition agreements for the installation of macro, micro, and small cell wireless telecommunication infrastructure at multiple site locations within a specific regional territory
- Liaise with Government agencies, land use authorities, and various third-party entities in order to assess municipal requirements in accordance with acquisition timelines and expectations
- Coordinate tower site audits, investigation reports, and loading analysis with external geotechnical/ civil engineering vendors
- Prepare, plan, and coordinate presentation material for public consultation/open houses (LUA concurrence process)
- Experience preparing public consultation and industry notification documentation to ensure regulatory compliance as required
- Negotiate and execute easement, rights of way, and tower co-location agreements.
Conduct municipal risk assessments upon receipt of files based on LUA's procedures and/or protocols
- Prepare and present weekly status reports for various site acquisition metrics
- Ability to pivot quickly in a dynamic work environment while maintaining site acquisition objectives within defined time constraints
- Manage ROW agreement for the installation of our fiber optic infrastructures
- Coordinate and monitor external site acquisition vendors, in order to ensure adherence to scope, budget, and schedule constraints
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Wireless Site Acquisition within the Ontario, Alberta, Manitoba, or Saskatchewan markets
- Post-secondary education in Land, Business, Urban Planning, Real Estate, or a related field
- Familiarity with process, protocol and regulations pertaining to Telecommunications Public Consultation and Indigenous Peoples consultation
- Strong working knowledge of Google Earth, graphics software, SharePoint and Teams
Strong business acumen and proven ability to implement and maintain effective business practices
- Working knowledge of Civil Engineering and Construction general practices an asset
Fluent in French would be an asset
- An excellent communicator with a professional and objective outlook who can build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Able to travel when required
- Able to work outside of normal business hours when required
