Degrees Catering operational structure includes a Catering Co-coordinator, Catering Assistant, Supervisors, Drivers, and General Workers. The Manager is responsible for the operational oversight and development of the Degrees Catering department at the university. This responsibility includes: - Overseeing catering functions on campus. - Ensuring excellent client support and satisfaction. - Ongoing review of required enhancements to current business practices, models and ordering systems etc. - Overseeing staffing responsibilities including recruitment, training and development for the Degrees Catering team. - Liaise and work closely with other departments on campus to develop new business within both catering and conference services on campus. - Overseeing the opening and development of the new meeting, conference and banquet spaces within Building 2 of the Student Housing and Dining (SDH) complex in collaboration with the director. - Overseeing the profitability for Degrees Catering within the UNFS department. Based on business needs and requirements, the Manager Catering works a varied work schedule that may include weekends and/or evenings. - Job RequirementsThis position requires a minimum of post-secondary diploma with a preference to education in business and hospitality management. In addition, this position requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the food services and catering industry, preferably in a post-secondary or hotel catering and conference operation. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. Knowledge, skills, and abilities include: - Working knowledge of Public Health Authorities and FoodSafe standards and guidelines is essential. - An understanding of the complex and unique needs of a campus community. - Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team. - Understanding employee development and retention strategies through performance management initiatives. - Ability to work effectively with a diverse population and with all levels of university personnel. - Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with all stakeholders. - Proven track record achieving projects goals on time and produce deliverables of high quality. - Demonstrated experience delivering catering programs and services while using available resources responsibly. - Experience with catering ordering platforms - Caterease, Catertrax etc. - Excellent knowledge, understanding and experience with the development and presentation of detailed client proposals, room rentals, additional catering/conference expenses etc. - Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. - Superior communication skills, both written and verbal. - Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills. - Working knowledge of various computer software programs and a minimum Excel proficiency level of intermediate. **Territory acknowledgement** We acknowledge and respect the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples on whose traditional territory the university stands and the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day. **Equity and Diversity Statement** **Accessibility Statement
