**Some of what you will do**
As the Pricing Analyst, you will support the execution of Staples Canada’s pricing strategy and ensure that pricing best practices and policies are consistently adhered to. You will be required to work with complex data sets to help Staples determine and set competitive prices to gain market share and achieve revenue goals while maintaining a keen attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This role requires strong analytics to consider data from multiple sources and support complex pricing models that reflect margins for promotional and seasonal pricing based on competitor and market. You will work collaboratively with various departments to support strategies and enhance process and procedures related to pricing.
**Specifically, you will**:
- Perform in depth data analysis and financial modelling scenarios for pricing profitability initiatives, driving the company’s long-term growth profitability strategy.
- Complete analysis and make recommendations to optimize retail pricing and promotions, improve financial results, processes and business improvements.
- Maintain regular retail pricing strategy.
- Utilize quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze and monitor market conditions, competitor price positioning and promotional trends.
- Ensure adherence to pricing policies, rules and guidelines.
- Support the development of metrics, data and reporting for pricing, markdowns and promotions to measure impacts and performance.
- Provides analysis and insight to merchants on markdown effectiveness.
- Coordinate, collect and analyze competitive retail prices.
- Continually improve support to the business through assessing needs and providing forward looking insight to assist in the development of standardized reports and ad hoc requests.
- Run price optimization scenarios and make recommendations to business partners to maximize sales and profitability.
- Collaborate with the various departments to translate complex data into actionable strategies and techniques to drive sales.
- Continuously looks for opportunities to improve processes and deliver more meaningful insights.
**Some of what you need**
- Successful completion of post-secondary education in a business-related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2-3 years of large retailer experience with significant exposure to pricing or promotional planning.
- Knowledge of retail pricing fundamentals.
- Ability to interpret data to provide actionable insight.
- In depth knowledge of SQL, Microsoft Access, and Excel is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI is an asset.
- A creative problem solver with the ability to work independently and be self motivated in a fast-paced, often ambiguous and rapidly changing environment.
