**Warehouse Assistant**

We have an immediate full-time opening for a Warehouse Assistant based out of our Port Maitland Warehouse. Reporting into the Warehouse Coordinator and as an integrated member of the Procurement and Warehouse team, the Warehouse Assistant is responsible for shipment logistics and general maintenance duties for the facility.

**Key Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Meet delivery trucks and couriers to receive shipments safely using appropriate equipment as required.
- Place and organize received goods in appropriate sections of warehouse in respect to correct vessel shipment staging.
- Verify that the quantity and quality of goods received is consistent with the packing slip and Purchase Order.
- Inspect and ensure shipment received compares with invoice/manifest and other document(s) to ensure accuracy and rejection of damaged goods and record for inventory.
- Assist Warehouse Coordinator with critical spares and inventory counting and labeling to keep up to date records.
- Assist with set-up of warehouse storage space, to create more efficient use of usable space.
- Operate both inside and yard forklifts as well as other equipment onsite.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on warehouse equipment and vehicles (oil levels, tire condition and pressures, battery condition, etc.).
- Pick and pack orders on pallets or in cartons for shipment to vessels, including shrink wrapping and proper labelling.
- Assist Warehouse Coordinator to determine the most efficient and cost-effective method of shipping goods to vessels or other McKeil branch operations.
- Assist Warehouse Coordinator to prepare bills of lading and other shipping documents in conjunction with direct shipments to vessels or via 3rd party carriers.
- Load trucks and couriers with outbound shipments leaving the warehouse.
- Handle delivery runs to vessels, vendors, and other McKeil site locations using company vehicles.
- Facility housekeeping, including but not limited to exterior grounds maintenance, sweeping warehouse building and office trailer, garbage removal, organizing shipping/ warehouse supplies (communicating shortages and replenishment requirements), no overhead and weight limitation.
- Cover primary duties of Warehouse Coordinator during periods of absence.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

**Minimum Qualification, Skills and Competencies**:

- Experience in a warehouse environment an asset.
- Valid and clean class G drivers license and abstract.
- Forklift certification or experience an asset (will train).
- Good written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work with time constraints.

**Working Conditions/Special Notes**:

- Some travel required based on demand.
- Standard hours 8:00 - 4:30 pm.
- Overtime hours may be required from time to time based on operational demand.
