**Primary Responsibilities**:
- Develop, maintain, and implement preventive control plans, SOPs and related forms to ensure compliance with the Cannabis Act and Regulations
- Develop, maintain, and implement programs to support GPP’s and continuously improve the QA program to mitigate risk to the consumer and the business
- Develop and implement training programs to support the implementation of SOPs
- Complete deviation/incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action/preventive action (CAPA)
- Complete equipment evaluations and validations as required
- Complete finished product label verification for compliance to regulations
- Complete internal audits to ensure compliance to SOPs
- Participate in external audits and inspections including but not limited to Health Canada inspections
- Review certificates of analysis (COA) and internal laboratory test results for compliance to specification
- Assist with the development and validation of analytical testing methods
- Complete daily document review, and/or verification of forms, reports, and SOPs
- Ensure all controlled documents in use are current and secured in accordance with good manufacturing practices
- Provide support and coverage for the QA Technician as required
- Other duties as assigned
**KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED**:
- 4+ years of experience in Quality Assurance in agriculture, food manufacturing, or pharmaceutical industries is required
- Proficiency in English is required
- Previous experience working in Quality Assurance activities in regulated cannabis companies is considered an asset
- Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, Plant Science, Plant Biotechnology, Agronomy, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field is considered an asset
- College Diploma or certificate in Pharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs and Quality Operations, Quality Assurance, or related field is considered an asset
- Experience with regulatory agencies such as Health Canada or Canadian Food Inspection Agency is considered an asset.
- Experience with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), Risk Assessments and/or Preventive Control Plans is considered an asset
- Internal auditor certification or training is considered an asset
- Exceptional attention to detail and skilled in precision work
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills and intermediate experience with Microsoft Office
**ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Capable of working efficiently independently under mínimal supervision and succeed in team environments
- Ability to follow strict SOPs
- Ability to conduct independent research on cannabis, industry best practices, and relevant standards and regulations
- Ability to stay focused and complete repetitive and routine tasks
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Capable of lifting 50 lbs. and ability to work in warm, humid greenhouse-like conditions
- Capable of working in adverse conditions including high intensity lighting and constant background noise
- Ability to work in an indoor environment with high levels of cannabis plant material that may include allergic reaction inducing substances such as pollen
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment including but not limited to eye protection, gloves, hair nets, surgical masks and/or respirators
- Ability to work occasionally outside of core business hours to meet the needs of the business including weekends is required
- Must be able to pass a criminal record check and undergo Health Canada security clearance
- Must be able to obtain Health Canada approval for Quality Assurance Person (QAP) or Alternate Quality Assurance Person (AQAP) designation
- Knowledge of the Cannabis Act and Regulations is considered an asset
