**SUMMARY**:

- While contributing to a great visitor experience, the Building Services Attendant provides janitorial support to the Vancouver Aquarium by keeping the building and grounds maintained, clean and in good order._

**ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
***Ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation for the interior and exterior of the Vancouver Aquarium facility**:

- Clean and sanitize washrooms
- Polish washroom mirrors and replenish paper products and supplies
- Empty garbage and picking up litter
- Leaf blow, power wash or hose decks, walkways and stairs
- Vacuum floors and carpets, mop hard surface floors
- Polish window, acrylic cases, tanks, graphics, displays and doors
- Maintain janitorial tools/equipment and storage rooms

**Perform other duties including**:

- Clean Vancouver Aquarium vehicles
- Operate Vancouver Aquarium vehicles when necessary
- Usher visitors out and close the Vancouver Aquarium
- Assist with special projects as directed

**Maintain and foster a collaborative working environment**:

- Assist in gardening and landscaping
- Help with minor incidents (lost children, broken glass, spills)
- Assist other departments with moving furniture, displays, etc.
- Answer routine questions from visitors

**Consciously desire to improve the Vancouver Aquarium and its processes**:

- Assist with development of emergency protocols
- Maintain organizational safety standards
- Reduce environmental impact and supporting “greening” of operations
- Demonstrate the organization’s values and expectations for conduct
- Perform additional duties of a similar nature or level as required

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**:

- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent training/experience
- Valid B.C. Driver’s License is an asset
- Customer service experience is an asset
- WHMIS certification is an asset
- Ability to operate equipment such as blowers, power washers, week trimmers and other electrical tools in a safe and effective manner
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Attention to detail and aware of surroundings
- Good understanding of cleaning products and chemical handling
- Ability to life and carry 20kg
- Ability to stand for extended period of time
- Ability to lift, push, pull and stretch to fulfil duties
- Required to carry a radio and be accessible for calls
- Be flexible and be available during the week, including evenings, weekends and holidays

- High School or better
