**Job Description**:
***:Under the direction of the Manager - Community Development, the Workforce Development Officer will collaborate and work with the Community Development team and local partners to deliver workforce development programs.
**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Supports program delivery of immigration and workforce development programs.
- Executes outreach responsibilities with partner organizations to generate program awareness.
- Works with employers to advise and facilitate resources to support the retention and community integration of top talent in support of the City’s economic growth.
- Contributes to quarterly labour market analyses that identify labour gaps to provide recommendations for immigration and workforce programs on priority NAICS and NOC codes.
- Provides performance updates and expert guidance to the program specific advisory councils.
- Builds a knowledge repository of local, national, and international immigration pathways, programs or resources, as well as expertise in the talent attraction, in support of partners and client service provision.
- Maintains relationships with workforce development, immigration and settlement organizations, key stakeholders and federal and provincial governments key representatives.
- Organizes a variety of workshops and events focused on immigration, workforce programs, and efforts to attract and retain labor.
- Completes reporting requirements in relation to funding agencies and government agencies.
- Provides insight and information for communication and marketing strategies regarding immigration and workforce programs, integration, and retention efforts.
- Works collaboratively with municipal, provincial, and federal government partners from relevant departments, aligning and advancing these relationships to deliver on CEDC corporate priorities while maintaining political awareness and sensitivity.
- Performs other such duties as required.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education/Experience**:
- Diploma in business administration, workforce development, education leadership, public administration or a related discipline.
- Two years of experience in program or project delivery.
- Experience delivering results in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary business environment.
- Experience working and assisting stakeholders and/or the public.
**Skills/Abilities**:
- Ability to exercise independent judgement when dealing with confidential or sensitive issues
- Ability to plan, develop, and deliver presentations to a variety of audiences using appropriate communication strategies
- Superior ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing, including the ability to skilfully handle on-the-spot questions from senior officials and special interest groups
- A self-starter with proven organizational and time management skills Ability to function and contribute as an effective team member and to work independently
- Results-driven and detail-oriented
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with Administration, Union executives, superiors, co-workers, employees, and the general public
- Must be at an intermediate skill level in word processing and spreadsheet software
- Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
**Assets**:
- Ability to speak, write and read in a second language
- Experience in program delivery of immigration, labour attraction or settlement services
- Experience in providing technical direction and guidance on programs
- Experience in labour attraction, retention or integration.
**CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT**:
- Will be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation
