**Working for the Faculty of Native Studies**
Native Studies is an exciting, emerging area of study that seeks to understand the experiences and lives of Indigenous people and communities, past, present, and into the future. It also studies how Indigenous communities and the countries in which they live influence and define each other. The Faculty of Native Studies (FNS)’s vision is to produce a better society by educating Indigenous and non-Indigenous students to be responsible citizens through excellent community engagement, teaching and research focused on the complexity of Indigenous issues and thought. The FNS mission is to produce graduates across the university who have respect for Indigenous knowledges, who are educated about Indigenous histories and contemporary realities, and who can work collaboratively with Indigenous communities and people.
FNS delivers a variety of innovative, high quality educational opportunities (undergraduate, graduate, certificate, continuing education) to benefit a wide range of learners at the local, national, and international levels. The Faculty is deepening its commitment to responsive and accessible learning by developing a centralized online and continuing education arm that will expand upon the existing student base to build enrollment from programs across the University, as well as professional and personal development learner audiences.
**Position**
Reporting to the Director of the Rupertsland Centre for Metis Research (RCMR) about the overall operations, this position is responsible for the coordination and functional oversight of RCMR activity. The person in this position will be responsible for the coordination of research activities being carried out with Metis communities and organizations in Canada.
**Duties**
Academic and Applied Research (20%)
- Facilitate research related to the centre’s research and educational mandate as first set out in the Proposal for the Establishment of the RCMR
- Maintain research infrastructure
- In collaboration with the Trustholder, make recommendations for possible collaborations with other researchers and/or putting community research needs in touch with the most suitable PI
- In collaboration with the Trustholder, ensure that deliverables for each research project are identified and follow up to ensure goals are being met on time
Community Outreach (30%)
- Facilitate and promote the centre’s connections and relationships with Metis Nation governments and agencies
Administration (45-50%)
Administer the centre’s day to day operations and undertakings by:
- Organizing, coordinating and/or providing support to events and meetings for the Centre
- Preparing and analyzing monthly financial reports, account reconciliations and invoices
- Preparing and analyzing reports for the RCMR Executive Council/Board meetings
- Creating and sustaining the optimal organization of the centre’s administrative resources
- Developing excellence and remaining current with university administrative systems
- Communicating internally with FNS, Research Services Office, and externally with Rupertsland Institute and agencies, and other research partnerships
- Designing, creating and maintaining the centre’s internal system of record keeping, for current and legacy needs
- Preparing requisitions of supplies and services
- Providing overall administrative and technical support to the Director

- Provide technical support (software and audio visual), PowerPoint presentations, posters
- Support with Website Development (content)
