As a result, you will be part of a qualified and strategic team recognized widely for caring, excellence, integrity, inclusiveness and flexibility. **Posting ID**: 4126 **Department**: Social & Community Services **Division**: Children's Services **Pay Range**: $57,685 - $72,107 **Job Type**: Contract > 1 Year **Contract Duration**: Up to 12 months **Hours of Work**: 35 hours per week **Work Location**: Sedgewick Child Care Centre - 1256 Sedgewick Crescent, Oakville **Employee Group**: OCT **Posting Date**:April 17, 2025 **Application Deadline**: April 24, 2025 **Duties & Responsibilities**: - Prepares and handles food to ensure food quality, safety and quantity. - Maintains a clean and safe environment. - Documents all information required to assess food temperature chill time and food quality. - Develops nutritious, seasonal, and visually appealing menus. - Maintains cost awareness in preparation and storage of all products with an emphasis on minimizing waste. Responsible for purchase of food orders, groceries, cleaning supplies and monitoring budget. - Ensure allergies and food preferences are considered. - Participates with the team in development of new recipes and products. - Maintains close ongoing communication with the Supervisor - Supervises and participates with the children in the program as required. - Performs housekeeping duties as required. - Performs other duties as assigned. **Skills & Qualifications**: **Essential** - Minimum of Secondary School Graduation Diploma with 3 -5 years’ experience in quantity food preparation, preferably in child care setting. “Certified Food Handler” certificate and Standard First Aid with CPR-C are mandatory. - Operate within a highly ethical environment and you will be accountable for going the extra mile, listening to your customers, creatively meeting needs, and always being respectful to those you serve. - As a result, you will be part of a qualified and strategic team recognized widely for caring, excellence, integrity, inclusiveness and flexibility. **Preferred** - Cooking degree or diploma from a recognized college or university, as well as additional courses in child care or child development. **Working/ Employment Conditions**: **Working Conditions** - Must be able to perform all the necessary physical tasks such as lifting, pushing and pulling, carrying objects up and down the stairs. - May need to lift up to fifty (50) pounds. - Travel will be required; incumbent must provide their own transportation. - The incumbent will be required to provide a copy of their driver’s license by their first day of employment. - Flexibility in work schedule for occasional evening meetings. **Employment Conditions** - Current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Vulnerable Sector Check by the first day of employment. - Current (obtained within the past six (6) months) two-step tuberculosis test by the first day of employment. - In accordance with requirements in Ontario Regulation 191/11 - Integrated Accessibility Standards and the Ontario Human Rights Code, Halton Region will accommodate the needs of individuals with disabilities throughout the recruitment process.
