We’re looking for a Financial Analysis Specialist to support our Finance team by preparing internal reports, analyzing trends, and driving data-informed decisions. Reports To: Director, Finance
Location: Edmonton, On-site
What You’ll Be Doing:
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses
- Perform various month-end close reconciliations and adjustments
- Support budgeting processes across corporate, branch, and manufacturing operations by developing models and tracking performance
- Assemble interim forecasts to detect potential cash flow or profitability issues early and recommend actions as needed
- Compile AP/AR status reports to support debt and line of credit compliance
- Conduct cost and revenue analysis across branch, warehouse, and manufacturing locations
- Monitor financial KPIs and contribute to scenario planning and modeling for new products, services, or acquisitions
- Track and analyze distribution and manufacturing performance for key product lines
- Review shipping costs, delivery utilization, and transportation KPIs to recommend cost-saving strategies
- Assist with the external annual audit regarding inquiries and documentation requests
In an Average Week, You Might...
- Kick off the week by reviewing revenue and sales trends across manufacturing and distribution lines
- Prepare weekly bank reconciliations
- Prepare dashboards in Power BI to track KPIs, shipping utilization, and branch-level sales
- Support planning for a new product line by assembling a pro forma forecast and capital return model
- Wrap up the week by preparing next week’s reporting priorities and identifying opportunities to streamline analysis
What You Bring:
- 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, reporting, or business performance roles
- Post-secondary education in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Proficiency with financial tools and reporting platforms (Power BI, Excel, etc.)
- Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, and forecasting processes
- A detail-oriented and structured approach to problem-solving
- Strong communication skills with the ability to summarize complex findings clearly
- Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple teams and business units
Bonus Points
- Experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central
- Experience in the ins and outs of the building materials and/or Millwork industry
