Hood Packaging Corporation located in Burlington, Ontario is a quality manufacturer of packaging materials with 23 production facilities located in the United States and Canada. We have grown by acquisition and innovation. Our oldest, continuously running business started over 100 years ago in the Jute and Cotton trade and we have expanded our flexible packaging skills into Paper, Plastic, and Woven packaging substrates as more advanced technology has developed for these products.

**SCOPE OF POSITION**

The Buyer is responsible for the procurement of support raw materials, purchased parts and non-maintenance services; management of the raw material inventory; ensuring inventory record integrity; and ensuring the integrity of the inventory planning parameters.

**FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Inventory Planning & Control**
- Administer sub-contract items and inter-company transactions.
- Administer planned inventory levels - each item and aggregate.
- Monitor support raw material inventory integrity through the results of an effective cycle count and MRP program.
- Participate on the (NCR) Non-Conforming Material Review Board to manage surplus, obsolete and discrepant material.

**Purchasing**
- Issue Capital Project PO’s
- Establish purchasing control criteria and execute within MFG/PRO.
- Review, log and approve invoicing as required.
- Develop and manage strategic supplier relationships.
- Develop alternate sources for critical materials or services.
- EAM backup for purchasing
- Maintain Cost Savings Report
- Maintain MVIL for raw material inventory items
- Manage vendor complaints.
- Maintain COI and kiosk for suppliers
- Establish JIT initiative to improve quality of materials, schedule adherence & ensure uninterrupted supply.
- Develop & implement innovative purchasing practices.

**Receiving**
- Ensure suppliers properly identify Hood purchase order and item number on packing slip and material.
- Effective utilization of trucks to minimize premiums paid for shipments of less than truckload lots (LTL).
- Negotiate freight contracts (Uber Freight Canada) to improve quality of service, schedule adherence and cost improvement.
- Book inbound materials.
- Support materials Manager as needed.

**Cycle Counting**
- Oversee and reconcile a control group of items independent of main cycle count activity to directly monitor accuracy.
- Reconcile cycle counts to determine cause of error and ensure that the appropriate manager takes corrective action to eliminate a recurrence of the cause of error.
- Maintain measurement of # and type of errors

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education & Experience**
- Post-Secondary graduate and 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment and in an MRP II environment
- PMAC certified

**Skills**
- Computer literate
- Negotiations/Presentation skills

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $62,500.00-$66,000.00 per year
