Good Trade Co. is a social enterprise coffee company that works directly with farmers and their communities in rural Colombia. We’re looking for the world’s best people-person/coffee-addict to add to our team. As a Barista you will be the helpful and joyful face of our company. This specific position will be weekends (Saturday, Sunday and Holidays) with the opportunity to cover shifts throughout the week if available.

**Job Type**: Permanent Part-time (7-16 hours per week on the weekend)

**Compensation**: $16.05 per hour + tips

**Working Conditions**: We are hiring baristas with the flexibility to work at these 2 locations
- 750 square foot coffee shop with 1-2 coworkers in the trendy neighbourhood of Kensington
- 100 square foot coffee stand with 1 coworker in a delicious-smelling farmer’s market in Ramsay

**The Role and Responsibilities...**
- Educate Customers
- Share Good Trade’s origin story and the social impact we’re making.
- Teach customers about coffee (growing, production, roasting, and brew methods)
- Customer Experience
- Take orders from customers in a welcoming and engaging way
- Enter orders accurately into a user-friendly Point of Sale software
- Up-sell and share special promotions to hit daily and weekly sales goals
- Ensure every customer understands our story and why we exist
- Prepare and Serve Coffee
- Create specialty coffee items (pull espresso shots, texture milk, etc.)
- Consistently make high quality drinks
- Care for the Shop
- Keep the coffee shop welcoming and approachable through cleanliness
- Organize displays of products to intrigue customers and inspire sales
- Clean and care for equipment and furniture by following cleaning schedules

**What you bring...**
- 1-2 years of experience as a Barista in a Third Wave specialty coffee shop
- Basic knowledge of the coffee process (farming, preparing, roasting, distribution)
- Excellent computer skills (we heavily rely on the ‘cloud’ such as the Google Suite of software)
- Must be able to perform the physical aspects of the job such as standing for long periods, building displays and lifting up to 30 pounds

Pay: $16.05 per hour

Expected hours: 7 - 16 per week
