We seek excellent students, faculty, and staff to join us in what has become known as the "Western Experience" - an opportunity to contribute to a better world through the development of new knowledge, new abilities, new connections, and new ways to make a difference. **About Us**: The goal of ‘WEMADEIT’, a consortium of four collaborating Universities including, University of Ontario Institute of Technology, Ryerson University, University of Waterloo and the University of Western Ontario, and funded by Hydro One, is to fundamentally change the approach to increasing women participation in engineering education. ‘WEMADEIT in the Classroom’ is focused on providing professional development for teachers built around ‘WEMADEIT’ lessons and messaging developed by the Universities consortium. **Responsibilities**: The Program Coordinator, Outreach Equity Diversity & Inclusion (EDI), will collaborate to provide support for the development, expansion and implementation of programs and events, focused on increasing awareness and knowledge of engineering. The role will assist with the design and development of Teacher Professional Development such as ‘WEMADEIT in the Classroom’ programming, coordinate the delivery and evaluation of the programming within the partner school boards, as well as support the day-to-day administrative and logístical functions of the program. The Program Coordinator will collaborate to provide support for the development, expansion and implementation of programs, events focused on increasing awareness and knowledge of engineering to underrepresented students in STEM, including (but not limited to) Black, Indigenous, People of Colour (BIPOC), Women, LGBTQ2+ and newcomers to Canada. The role will also participate in the development and expansion of ‘outreach programs, identify and act on opportunities to increase awareness of engagement programs, and will act as a first point of contact for all internal and external inquiries related to the programs. **Qualifications**: - Education: - Bachelor’s Degree Education and Engineering Science, Science or related field - Experience: - 2 years’ experience teaching in an in-person and virtual classroom setting - Experience developing and implementing programming related to Ontario science and math curriculum (elementary and secondary), and working with youth in an education setting - Experience working with underrepresented youth in STEM - Experience developing relationships and working with teachers, school boards and community partners - Experience working and mentoring undergraduate students and volunteers is preferred - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Knowledge of best practices for assessing, developing and implementing new programming relevant to underrepresented student populations - Ability to plan and manage events of various sizes; familiarity with large scale events an asset - Project management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and perform well under pressure - Ability to effectively present information, and conduct training sessions and workshops - Ability to act on new information and effectively contribute in a changing environment - Communication skills with an ability to clearly express ideas in an objective manner, complete detailed analytics and reports and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience - Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards - Capacity to support and demonstrate openness to persons of diverse backgrounds and beliefs - Ability to understand customer needs and expectations and provide excellent customer service to directly and indirectly satisfy expectations - Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy - A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation and conflict resolution skills - Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized and effective personal work environment - Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the University’s events and activities - Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and with Content Management Systems (such as Cascade) - Proven ability to develop relationships in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner with prospective and current students, elementary and high school participants, teachers, parents, staff, faculty and other members of the Western community - Valid Class G driver’s license required **Background Checks**: Please note, successful applicants may be required to produce current record check(s) (e.g. vulnerable sector, criminal
