**Key Responsibilities**:
**Retinal Imaging and OCT Research**:
Assist in planning, organizing, and conducting retinal imaging research studies, with a primary focus on OCT investigations. Contribute to the development of research protocols and standard operating procedures related to retinal imaging and OCT studies. Perform hands-on tasks related to the operation of imaging equipment, ensuring data integrity and quality.
**Patient Recruitment and Consent**:
Actively engage in the identification and recruitment of eligible patients for retinal imaging studies. Facilitate the informed consent process, ensuring participants have a comprehensive understanding of the study objectives and procedures.
**Image Acquisition and Analysis**:
Operate and maintain retinal imaging equipment, including OCT machines. Collect and organize imaging data in adherence to established protocols. Collaborate with the research team to analyze imaging data and contribute to research findings.
**Collaboration on Clinical Studies**:
Provide support for other clinical studies within the department, as needed. Collaborate with principal investigators, clinicians, and other research staff to ensure seamless integration of activities.
**Documentation and Reporting**:
Maintain accurate and detailed records of research activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Contribute to the preparation of research reports, presentations, and publications.

**Qualifications**:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., biology, biomedical science, or a related discipline).
Previous experience in clinical research, particularly in ophthalmology or retinal imaging, is preferred.
Familiarity with OCT technology and image analysis techniques is advantageous.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience in hypothesis generation, research methodology and research ethics.
Familiarity with Word processing software, image management software and report generation.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with remote teams and healthcare professionals.
Understanding of patient privacy regulations and data protection laws.
**Organizational Status**: The position will be reporting directly to Dr. Zaid Mammo, Dr. Wai-Ching Lam and Dr. Myeong-Jin Ju, the direct research supervisors.
Consequence of Error/Judgement Inaccurate or untimely information could result in a delay in the research project being provided and potentially a delay in research output related to the program.
**Organizational Status**: The position will be reporting directly to the medical lead of the Teleophthalmology Screening Program for Diabetic Retinopathy (Zaid Mammo). The position will liaise with the Carrier-Sekani First Nation Family Services and Seabird Island Band to help in coordinating the reading of the retinal images.
**Consequence of Error/Judgement**: Inaccurate or untimely information could result in delay in care being provided through the telemedicine program and potentially delay in research output related to the program.
