- Job Summary- The Research Assistant provides direct support on a project aimed at developing a youth-centred model of care for opioid agonist treatment in British Columbia. This phase of the project involves disseminating and validating the model of care with service providers across various Foundry centers across the province, with guidance from a youth and family advisory committee. The Research Assistant will support the research team with planning community presentations and workshops with service providers to distribute and validate the youth-centred OAT model of care, review and incorporate the findings from the presentations and workshops into the final model and, attend youth and family advisory committee meetings with the research team. The Research Assistant will also support the research team with any planned knowledge translation activities resulting from this work. They will receive direct support and supervision from the Research Coordinator and Principal Investigator.- Organizational Status
Reports to the supervising professor, liaises with department manager and other researchers.
Work Performed- Project planning (e.g., planning community presentations and workshops, developing questions for service providers)
- Reviewing feedback from service providers
- Planning and attending youth and family advisory meeting
- Knowledge translation planning
- Contributing to an optimal workplace culture and environment
- Performing other related duties.-
- Consequence of Error/Judgement
Makes professional decisions and recommendations on all aspects of research work. Errors in performance of the above-related duties could have a significant impact on the effectiveness, reputation, collaboration, and financial status of the research project. Inappropriate judgment could result in fundamental flaws in the research results, in funding shortfalls for research grants or contracts, and loss of future research partnerships.
Supervision Received
Works independently under the general direction of the Principal Investigator and Research Coordinator. Research work is reviewed against achievement of project objectives and conformity to established standards.
Supervision Given
In collaboration with the Principal Investigator will be responsible for delegating tasks as appropriate to research student(s) and mental health consumers hired as peer research assistants involved in the research.
Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation, some additional training in a related field and a minimum two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.- Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own - Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Experience and demonstrated compassion working with persons with mental illness and substance use disorders. Ability to use Microsoft Office at an intermediate level.
