**Job Title**: Overnight Warming Center Support Staff
**Location**: 24 Energy Court
**Hours**: 12-40 per week
**Compensation**: $27.00 per hour
**Schedule**: 12:00am-8:00am. Weekday and weekend availability required.
**Reports To**: Program Manager

**Position Overview**

The **Warming Center Support Staff** is responsible for providing compassionate, hands-on support to guests of the Warming Center. This role involves creating a welcoming and safe environment, assisting with the provision of basic needs, and connecting guests with resources and support services. Support Staff work closely with the Warming Center team to ensure that all guests receive the care and assistance they need during their stay.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Guest Intake and Registration**
- Welcome guests in a respectful, non-judgmental manner, ensuring they feel comfortable and supported upon arrival.
- Conduct guest intake, including gathering basic information and assessing needs, while maintaining confidentiality.
- Explain Warming Center policies and procedures, ensuring guests understand the rules and available services.

**Supportive Engagement and Assistance**
- Build rapport with guests by offering support, guidance, and a listening ear.
- Assist guests in accessing services such as food, hygiene supplies, and hydration.
- Provide emotional support and engage with guests in a compassionate, trauma-informed way.

**Basic Needs Provision**
- Assist in preparing and distributing snacks, ensuring guests have access to nutritious food throughout the day and night.
- Distribute hygiene supplies and other essential items as needed.
- Help maintain cleanliness and organization in common and seating areas.

**Crisis Intervention and Conflict Resolution**
- Identify and respond to situations involving guests in distress, using de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques.
- Coordinate with security personnel and other staff to manage challenging behavior and ensure safety.
- Assist guests in connecting to additional supports, such as mental health or addiction resources.

**Resource Navigation and Referrals**
- Provide information and referrals to guests seeking services such as housing support, healthcare, or addiction treatment.
- Assist guests in navigating available community resources.
- Work with Shift Supervisors and other team members to coordinate follow-up care for guests in need.

**Team Collaboration and Communication**
- Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure coordinated service delivery.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions, sharing insights to improve service quality and guest experience.
- Communicate effectively with Shift Supervisors regarding guest needs, incidents, or concerns.

**Documentation and Reporting**
- Maintain accurate records of guest interactions, services provided, and incidents, in line with organizational policies.
- Complete necessary documentation for referrals and service coordination.
- Report safety or security concerns to the Shift Supervisor immediately.

**Health and Safety**
- Follow all health and safety protocols, including cold-weather precautions and infection control measures.
- Provide basic first aid or connect guests to appropriate medical care as needed (training provided if necessary).
- Monitor the facility for hazards and report maintenance or safety issues promptly.

**Qualifications**
- **Experience**: Previous experience in social services, community work, or with marginalized populations preferred. Experience in a shelter, drop-in, or similar environment is an asset.
- **Skills**: Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to engage with diverse individuals and handle challenging situations with empathy and professionalism.
- **Training**: Trauma-informed care, conflict resolution, and harm reduction training preferred (training provided). Certification in First Aid, CPR, and Naloxone administration is an asset.
- **Knowledge**: Understanding of issues related to homelessness, substance use, and mental health is beneficial.
- **Attributes**: Compassionate, patient, and non-judgmental. Team-oriented and adaptable in a dynamic environment.

**Physical Requirements**
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform light physical tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to assist with setting up seating areas and moving supplies as needed.

**Additional Information**
- Flexibility is required, as duties may change based on the needs of the Warming Center.
- Support Staff are expected to maintain confidentiality and uphold the highest professional standards.
