**Job Title**: Warming Center Security Personnel
**Location**: 24 Energy Court
**Hours**: 12-40 hours per week (flexible scheduling may be required)
**Reports To**: Program Manager

**Position Overview**

The **Warming Center Security Personnel** is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of guests, staff, and the facility during operational hours. This role involves monitoring the premises, managing access control, de-escalating conflicts, and responding to emergencies in a calm and professional manner. Working as part of the Warming Center team, the Security Personnel helps create a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for individuals seeking shelter from the cold.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Safety and Security Monitoring**
- Monitor entrances, exits, and common areas to ensure a safe environment for guests and staff.
- Conduct regular patrols inside and outside the facility to identify and address safety concerns.
- Manage access control by verifying the identity of individuals entering the center and ensuring only authorized guests and staff are admitted.

**Conflict Resolution and De-escalation**
- Intervene in situations involving disruptive behavior using trauma-informed, non-violent de-escalation techniques.
- Provide a calm and reassuring presence during conflicts, resolving situations respectfully and peacefully.
- Support individuals who may be under the influence, using harm reduction approaches and seeking assistance from healthcare or outreach staff as needed.

**Emergency Response**
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, including medical incidents, security issues, or facility concerns.
- Complete detailed incident reports and maintain accurate records according to organizational policy.

**Supportive Engagement**
- Build rapport with guests while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Assist with guest check-in/check-out and help foster a welcoming atmosphere.
- Support enforcement of Warming Center policies in a fair and compassionate way.

**Facility Maintenance and Safety Checks**
- Conduct routine safety checks and report maintenance or safety issues promptly.
- Assist in keeping the facility organized, clean, and hazard-free.

**Collaboration and Communication**
- Work closely with Warming Center staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure coordinated service delivery.
- Communicate regularly with the Shift Supervisor regarding any concerns or incidents.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to support continuous improvement and professional development.

**Qualifications**
- **Experience**: Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred. Experience working in community services, homeless shelters, or with vulnerable populations is an asset.
- **Skills**: Strong conflict resolution, de-escalation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- **Training**: First Aid, CPR, and Naloxone certification preferred (training available).
- **Knowledge**: Familiarity with trauma-informed care and harm reduction principles is an asset.
- **Attributes**: Compassionate, patient, respectful, and team-oriented.

**Physical Requirements**
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
- Ability to respond quickly in emergencies, including navigating stairs or obstacles.

**Additional Information**
- Flexibility is required, as duties may change based on the needs of the Warming Center.
- Security Personnel are expected to maintain confidentiality and adhere to high professional standards at all times.
