**Working for the Department of Oncology**

The Mirzaei Lab, based in the Department of Oncology at the University of Alberta, investigates the mechanisms driving tumor progression and resistance to immunotherapy. Our research focuses on understanding the role of the tumor microenvironment in shaping cancer evolution and therapeutic response. Utilizing cutting-edge approaches such as CRISPR screening, single-cell multi-omics, and spatial transcriptomics, we aim to identify novel therapeutic targets and strategies to enhance cancer treatment efficacy.

**Position Summary**

The Research Technician will support experiments and daily operations across a research laboratory.

**Duties**
- Perform basic tissue culture work related to rodent and human cell lines.
- Conduct standard molecular and cell biology experiments on mammalian cells.
- Perform tissue and cell staining, including imaging of protein expression using microscopy.
- Conduct animal handling and experimental procedures, with a focus on mice.
- Work closely with other lab members, assisting them in experiments and troubleshooting.
- Assist with maintenance of laboratory equipment to ensure proper functionality.
- Maintain and organize laboratory stocks, inventory, and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and propose strategies for safe lab operations.
- Maintain a clean and fully functional laboratory environment.
- Carry out additional duties as required, in line with the qualifications and role expectations.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as molecular biology, cancer biology, or a related discipline.
- Understanding of molecular and cellular biology techniques, including tissue culture, cloning, and microscopy.
- Interest in working with mice.
