**About the role**

The **Cell Sciences Research Technician** plays an integral role supporting the Cell Sciences department in their innovative work to validate new products in the pipeline. The key function of this role is to support the team to perform routine cell and workspace maintenance, performing repeatable product validation assays and supporting the development of new products. This ensures Senior Scientists/Leads and the department Head can focus on meeting their critical R&D and production milestones; including your professional development within the company.

The **Cell Sciences Research Technician** will work collaboratively with the R&D and manufacturing units of our business, filling an important role on the Cell Sciences Team. They will work closely with and support Research Scientists, under the leadership of the Team Lead of Cell Sciences, providing cross-functional support to members of the broader R&D team as needed. This role will attend weekly science and all-hands meetings and participate in collaborative discussions and will be actively involved in assay development and troubleshooting.

**This role will own**:

- Working closely with the Cell Sciences Team to execute experiments, troubleshoot, and implement R&D strategies
- Handling, storage and maintenance of cell lines, antibodies and other reagents critical for Cell Sciences Operations on a daily basis
- Contributing to weekly Cell Sciences Team meetings with data updates, troubleshooting suggestions, and planning and preparing questions for upcoming lab work
- Developing product validation assays on new products under the leadership of senior scientists and Lead/Head
- Performing functionality tests like cell proliferation assays, western blots, ELISAs and other product validation assays to meet production deadlines on a weekly basis
- Produce publication quality data to be used for Product Performance Data sheets
- Maintaining Laminar airflow, incubators, microscope and other cell culture equipment, safety and cleanliness on a monthly schedule, completion of weekly inventory checks
- Writing detailed, accurate lab notes, documentation and procedures to help us build structure for GMP compliance
- Cross training on all cell line maintenance and cell team protocols, acquiring the agility to assist or step in on any project if needed
- Carrying out independent research projects when timing and budgetary needs are aligned

**This role will assist** **by**:

- Assisting R&D team members with execution of pre-planned experiments as needed
- Supporting with general laboratory organization and cleanliness
- Ordering and receiving lab items and accurately maintaining inventories
- Cleaning and maintaining equipment and reagents

**This role requires** the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively as needed. Time management, organization and honest communication will be key to staying on top of supporting people and projects across several teams. A positive attitude and passion for sustainability and creating impact through growing a startup; and an innovative mindset with a passion for solving hard problems. Although we fully expect this role to learn a lot on the job - solid background in cell biology, biochemistry, lab organization and data management is indispensable.
