Reporting to the Credit Manager, the Accounts Receivable Specialist ensures that the organization receives payment for services offered or goods sold to clients. This typically involves communicating with overdue clients, posting financial transactions to an accounting system and making bank deposits. They perform day-to-day financial transactions and client services including verifying, classifying, computing, posting and recording accounts receivables’ data, resolving payment and billing issues. They are familiar with accounting procedures and can manage daily financial transactions end-to-end.

**Tasks and Responsibilities**
- Post customer payments by recording cash, cheques, direct deposits and credit card transactions.
- Perform bank deposits.
- Verify validity of account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating information from sales, promotions, customer service departments and from customers.
- Process NSF transactions and contact the customers to obtain new payment.
- Create valid and approved credit memos and customer refund cheque requests.
- Resolve collections issues by examining customer payment plans and account history.
- Resolve customer billing issues and administrative requests.
- Accomplish accounting and organization’s mission by completing related tasks as needed.
- Internal auditing, resolve discrepancies between vendor invoices and internal billing records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.

**Skills, Experience and Qualifications**:

- Verbal and written communications skills and the ability to deal with late paying customers.
- Ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records.
- Data entry skills along with an aptitude for numbers.
- Hands-on experience in using Excel (and other MS Office software).
- Understanding of basic accounting principles.
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in English.
- Customer service centric focus and negotiation skills.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- University degree or College Diploma in Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with Quickbooks or similar accounting software and/or “ConnectWise” would be an asset.
