Do you love the outdoors? Then Big Rock Sports is the place for you Big Rock Sports Canada, a leading distributor of fishing, hunting and camping equipment, is seeking an outstanding individual to join our team as a Human Resource Generalist in Barrie, Ontario.

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing human resource related duties to support designated locations including Distribution Centers in Manitoba, British Columbia and Ontario and a remote Salesforce throughout several Provinces in Canada. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, training and development, performance management, worker’s compensation, policy implementation, and employment law compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance
- Recruits, interviews, and selects employees to fill vacant positions
- Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals
- Creates, maintains and audits personnel files to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Keeps records of benefit plan participation such as insurance and retirement plan; personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations; and employee statistics for government reporting
- Coordinates management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment
- Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues
- Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs
- Administers performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within organization
- Administers benefits programs such as life, health, disability insurances, retirement plans, paid time off, and leave of absence
- Investigates accidents and submits reports to appropriate governmental agencies
- Conducts wage surveys within labor market to determine competitive wage rate
- Works within budget of human resources operations
- Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations

Qualifications:

- 4-year college degree
- 3-4 years of related experience in Human Resources
- Knowledge of Human Resource related policies and procedures and employment law
- Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills
- Proficient in various information systems and office software
- Possess organizational skills to handle numerous tasks simultaneously with accuracy
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to adhere to principles of confidentiality
- Ability to travel periodically to other work locations
