How you will contribute

You will:

- Co-ordinate implementation of all HSE programs and processes. Prepare and build consensus annual plans for facility/function wide HSE initiatives
- Plan/Budget/Control annual capital budget for HSE to enable execution of the HSE plan and adherence to all internal and external compliance standards
- Provide HSE expertise for the facility/function for all new projects and change management activities
- Ensure appropriate risk assessments are conducted and follow ups implemented to minimize or eliminate accidents, asset losses that might cause harm to one of the company’s employees, contractors, visitors
- Ensure that the appropriate talent is in place through training, mentoring, and succession planning and supports development and learning capabilities of Safety specialists
- Ensure the facility standards are in compliance with both Company and governmental/community regulations
- Ensure training and coaching are taking place to drive a safety-perfect culture and to ensure safety standards and awareness are well understood throughout the plant organization

- Experience as a Health, Safety and Environment Practitioner preferably within a manufacturing or commercial environment
- Demonstrated experience managing a team, change management and project management
- Excellent interpersonal communication and influencing skills with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
- Experience with Health and Safety audit experience

More about this role

Preferred Experience:

- Background in manufacturing.
- Experience in people management (direct reports or cross functionally)
- Experience with Integrated Lean Six Sigma (IL6S) is a plus.

Education / Certifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), or equivalent are desirable however NOT mandatory.

Job Specific Requirements:

- Develop, implement, and maintain health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures. Provide strategic and tactical leadership from a HSE perspective to support business performance. Develop and deploy strategies to reduce HSE risks at the facility.
- Manage and mentor site HSE team.
- Promote and foster a culture of safety, wellbeing and environmental sustainability across the plant.
- Drive innovations and excellence by creating a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations & Utilize the Bradley Curve to benchmark and measure safety performance, identifying areas for improvement
- Support incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Provide training and support to employees on safety protocols and best practices, fostering a culture of continuous safety improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety into all aspects of operations and promote teamwork and collective responsibility for HSE.
- Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics and report findings to senior management.
- Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance.
- Act as company representative in dealing with regulatory agencies on HSE matters.

Travel Requirements:

- Occasional travel may be required for training, conferences, or site visits.

Work Schedule:

- Full-time on-site position.
- Typical work hours are Monday to Friday, with flexibility to address urgent issues as needed.
