**Overview**:
Lakehead University is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head Coach for the Women’s Basketball Program. This is a full-time position responsible for the leadership, strategic planning, and day-to-day operations of the varsity team. Reporting directly to the Athletics Director, the Head Coach plays a critical role in fostering a high-performance team culture that reflects the values and academic mission of Lakehead University.

**Responsibilities**:

- Oversee all aspects of the Women’s Basketball program including administration, financial planning, scheduling, travel coordination, and risk management.
- Recruit, supervise, and evaluate coaching and support staff.
- Ensure compliance with all institutional, OUA, U SPORTS, and anti-doping regulations.
- Develop and implement annual training plans, competition strategies, and athlete development programs.
- Create an inclusive and motivating team culture that fosters athletic, academic, and personal growth.
- Lead practices, manage game-day operations, and evaluate athlete performance.
- Design and execute a comprehensive recruiting strategy aligned with program goals and institutional values.
- Liaise with prospective student-athletes, families, and academic departments to support the admission and integration of recruits.
- Plan and execute fundraising and revenue-generating activities such as camps, leagues, and community events.
- Collaborate with the Athletics Director and corporate partners on sponsorship and development initiatives.
- Work closely with the Sports Information Officer on media communications, promotional materials, and public relations.
- Foster relationships with alumni, local organizations, and governing bodies to promote the program and build lasting support.
- Represent Lakehead University at OUA and U SPORTS meetings, alumni events, and professional development clinics.

**Qualifications**:
Bachelor’s degree required; a graduate degree in a related field is considered an asset.
Minimum 5 years of successful coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate or elite club level.
Proven leadership in program development, athlete recruitment, and team management.
Strong knowledge of U SPORTS/OUA policies, eligibility rules, and compliance.
Demonstrated ability to generate program revenue through camps, sponsorships, or events.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in sport.
Valid First Aid/CPR certification and completion of relevant NCCP (National Coaching Certification Program) training.
