Are you an experienced HR professional looking for a new and exciting opportunity? Strathcona County has a great opportunity to work within our HR Business Partnering Branch to provide advice, consultation, and strategic HR services to a diverse portfolio of clients. As a Human Resources Business Partner, you will work closely with Senior HR Business Partners to support both leaders and employees on employee relations and labour relations matters. As well, you will collaborate with other HR branches in support of program delivery of HR projects, programs, and strategic HR initiatives.

You will carry a small portfolio which will allow you to work directly with clients, while also allowing you time to work on projects and support the broader work of the HR Business Partnering team.

**Responsibilities**:

- Support department leaders by providing advice, coaching and support for a variety of employee relations/labour relations matters and workplace issues such as performance management, code of conduct matters, attendance management, investigations, disciplinary actions, grievances/appeals, and terminations.
- Work closely with Senior HR Business Partners in a supportive role on more complex files such as respectful workplace and harassment investigations, human rights files, alcohol and drug investigations. This may include collecting background information, researching options, preparing reports, drafting communication, investigation plans or letters.
- Support the branch on projects or initiatives such as delivering skills development training to line leaders, development of and input into guidelines, researching industry/employment standards and best practices, responding to whistleblower hotline complaints and code of conduct matters.
- Provide support to Senior HR Business Partners and their assigned portfolios in areas such as leader training and skills development, workforce planning, job evaluation, organizational design, employee engagement and overall organizational effectiveness in order to deliver effective HR service to the organization.
- Provide guidance and direction on issues related to disability management cases, such as consulting on return-to-work requirements and supporting temporary and permanent duty to accommodate cases.
- Provide a visible HR presence within departments and help champion HR initiatives, programs, and projects to the wider employee population.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Bachelor’s degree or diploma with a focus in Human Resources Management, Industrial or Labour Relations or a related HR area and at least 4 years of directly related work experience advising and consulting in a variety of HR program areas
- Experience in employee relations and labour relations working with employee handbooks and/or collective agreements
- Strong knowledge of HR management concepts and principals, legislation, policies, and procedures
- Preference for public sector experience working with multiple employee groups (both unionized and non-unionized environments)
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a solution-oriented focus and the ability to develop productive relationships with all levels of leaders, employees, and union representatives
- Strong conflict resolution and ability to influence positive outcomes
- Strong written communication as well as developed verbal, facilitation, and presentation skills
- Strategic and critical thinking skills to analyze information, consider risks and recommend a course of action consistent with business and strategic plans
- Experience advising and supporting leaders in workforce planning and implementing HR programs and initiatives to achieve corporate goals
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism
