**Purpose**:
This role will support the Indigenous Initiatives Office in their efforts to respond to the needs of a diverse group of Indigenous students, groups and community members. The individual will assist with outreach to Indigenous students, groups, and community members both internal and external to York University, including developing outreach strategies. The individual will also support the team in the AVP Indigenous Initiatives office in the design and implementation of Indigenous-focused initiatives. Various other tasks will be assigned as needed.

**Education**:
Undergraduate degree required, preferably in Indigenous Studies or a related field.

**Experience**:
Lived experience as an Indigenous person navigating university structures and spaces is important to this role. 1 Year Experience working with sensitive data and information, and maintaining confidentiality. 1 Year Experience in designing, implementing, and monitoring projects, programs, and/or initiatives through Indigenous perspectives. Has experience in the creation of promotional material and participant recruitment for Indigenous-focused initiatives.

**Skills**:
Specialized Knowledge/Skills: Has knowledge, experience in, and ideas on the respectful inclusion of Indigenous ways of knowing and being in post-secondary spaces. Has a profound understanding of the complex dynamics of university-Indigenous community relationships. Demonstrated ability to consult and maintain respectful relationships with Indigenous service providers and communities/community members.

Skills: Community service-focused individual. Strong interpersonal, inter-cultural, and public relations skills. Effective communication, teamwork, and analytical skills. Excellent organizational skills of information, project materials, and time. Ability to collaborate and work with others to complete a shared goal. Ability to assist in respectful consultations of Indigenous community members and gather research while adhering to high standards of ethics. Additional Language Skills Required: Familiarity with and comfort ability in using common greetings and phrases in one or more Anishinaabe or Haudenosaunee languages. Accuracy in referring to Indigenous place names and the nations who have care taken for the land upon which York University is situated on.
