**Course description**:
This course provides experience in language analysis based on elicited data from a native speaker of an understudied language. It emphasizes procedures and techniques and provides an opportunity for first-hand appreciation of linguistic unity and diversity.

**Class schedule**: Mondays 12:00pm - 3:00pm

[NOTE: The mode of instruction for this course is expected to be **in-person**. However, if this changes for any reason, you will be provided with as much advance notice as practicable.]

**Size of appointment**: 65 hours

**Sessional dates of appointment**: January 1, 2025 to April 30, 2025

**Salary**: $52.26/hour

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

**Minimum qualifications**:
Native speaker fluency in Keiyo is required.

Experience working as a language speaker for linguistic elicitation is required.

**Preferred qualifications**:
Previous experience relevant to this course is preferred.

**Description of duties**:
Oral translation from English into Keiyo; evaluate whether sentences in Keiyo produced by students represent what a speaker of the language might actually say; tell stories in Keiyo and work with the students on the transcription of these. Sessions will be recorded so that students can listen to the language outside of class time.
