We are seeking an Operations Manager for our Trius facility in Nova Scotia. This role will be responsible for planning, directing and overseeing the operation of the Truro Winery and for ensuring safe, efficient and on-time operations to meet customer demand and overall company and facility objectives. Also responsible for overall development and leadership of Winemaking, Production Operations, Maintenance, Warehousing and Distribution teammates and processes.
**We are looking for a teammate with**:
- University degree in Food Science, General Sciences, Engineering, Business Management or equivalent combination of experience and training
- Minimum 8 years progressive management experience in a winery, food, beverage or CPG manufacturing facility
- Experience with best in class GMP, HACCP / Food Safety, Health & Safety compliance, continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices
- Winemaking experience a strong asset
- Strong leadership and communication skills; proven track record of building positive and inclusive work environments
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
**This teammate's accountabilities will include**:
- Accountable for Winery performance in areas of quality, safety, food safety, productivity and cost. Ensures full compliance with regulatory requirements (Health & Safety, HACCP Food Safety, Environmental) and Company policies.
- Develops, prioritizes, executes and monitors winery goals and action plans to support facility objectives, Company objectives and strategic initiatives. Reports regularly on performance against goals; communicates and course corrects when deviations occur.
- Establishes manufacturing priorities, availability and allocation of appropriate resources.
- Provides direction, leadership, coaching and guidance to Managers, Supervisors, Lead Hands and hourly teammates, on multiple shifts to meet performance targets, including direction and understanding of business priorities, providing timely feedback and ensuring completion of effective performance reviews.
- Develops and manages operating budgets for the Truro Winery and completes quarterly forecast updates.
- Accountable for facility scheduling to ensure on-time order fulfillment against forecasted demand, to agreed upon service levels while minimizing excessive stock and shelf life issues.
- Ensures best in class customer service level to the four Atlantic Liquor Boards. Maintains and supports relationships with Liquor Boards, APL Sales Team and Suppliers.
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships with outside regulatory agencies related to food safety, Heath & Safety, and compliance with federal, provincial and local regulations.
- Monitors established key performance indicators (variance and costing reports, production, quality and safety metrics), investigates deviations and non-conformances and leads the development and execution of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Responsible for the identification of capital requirements within the Truro Winery and supports the successful implementation of capital projects in all departments.
- Leads the implementation of large-scale Operations initiatives and continuous improvement activities such as automation, process optimization, team and schedule restructuring.
- Works collaboratively with other APL department leaders and teams to resolve issues and to maximize facility performance.
- Contributes constructively to a positive company culture including diversity, equality and inclusion. Creates an environment of positive teamwork, accountability and respectful conflict management.
