Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:
- extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching all areas of this assignment
- Bachelor of Science Degree is preferred
- Certified to teach in British Columbia with Bachelor of Education
- Experience teaching Science at the secondary level
- demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt to a variety of classroom assignments at the secondary level
- demonstrated ability to motivate and provide success for students who experience difficulties with learning and require additional support through student services.
- demonstrated ability and energy to use a variety of instructional strategies to teach secondary students.
- demonstrated ability to recognize and acknowledge individual student differences and to adjust instructional practices accordingly.
- demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills.
- demonstrated ability to work closely with staff in a team-oriented approach.
- demonstrated organizational, communication and classroom management skills.
- demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues both verbally and in writing.
- demonstrated experience with the RTI framework to support student learning.
- demonstrated commitment to use technology for teaching and to communicate consistently and effectively with parents and students.
- demonstrated knowledge and understanding of adolescent development.
- demonstrated commitment to and engagement in lifelong professional and personal learning.
