**JOB SUMMARY**:
Under the supervision of the Support Service Coordinator, performs maintenance and repair duties related to buildings, grounds, and equipment in one or a variety of areas such as electrical, plumbing and restoration services in compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
**HEU Community Subsector**
Hours of work: Tues-Sat 9:30-5:30
**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES**:
- Repairs furniture such as tables, cupboards, and shelving units.
- Plumbing Duties: repairs or replaces fixtures such as sinks and toilets. Repairs plumbing water and waste lines. Repair and installation of PEX, CPVC, PVC, ABS water lines, including crimping, and gluing fittings, running lengths of pipe
- Painting Duties: prepares surfaces for painting, mending cracks, scraping, brushing, sanding, and applies putty/plaster as required. Selects and applies coatings such as paint, varnish, and stains with a variety of tools such as brush, roller, spray, and gun.
- Restoration Duties, services like installation of new drywall, taping and mudding of drywall.
- Electrical repair duties as follows in compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Examples: replacing light switches, replacing receptacles, light fixtures and ballast replacements. Running and repairing IT wire, nurse call and phone systems.
- Performs preventative maintenance procedures for related equipment and recommends repairs as required.
- Perform landscaping and ground maintenance such as mowing lawns, pruning shrubs and trees, snow and ice clearing of parking areas and walkways.
- Perform waste and recycling duties.
- Track all work through our maintenance software (TheWorxHub)
- Take part in the “On Call” system for maintenance staff.
11. Assists in developing short
- and long-term plans for items such as capital needs, servicing of equipment, landscaping, and grounds maintenance.
12. Monitors maintenance and housekeeping supplies. Receives supplies, checks invoices against orders and goods received, stores and distributes supplies.
13. Maintains security of the property by performing duties such as patrolling buildings and grounds, checking that doors and windows in common areas are secure, testing safety equipment, directing fire drills, and aids during emergencies.
14. Provides instructions and supervision to work crews, and/or provides direction to volunteers. Monitors work performed by contractors, contacts external contractors and tradespeople to obtain quotes, and arranges for major repairs and maintenance.

**EDUCATION & QUALIFICAIONS**:
- Grade 12 or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 2 to 4 years’ related experience required.
