Paralegal, Land Development & Commercial Real Estate

As the Paralegal, Land Development & Commercial Real Estate, you will assist in a variety of real estate matters including acquisition and due diligence, land development agreements and amendments, Land Title matters, financing, leasing, litigation, and business law matters. You will have a high level of responsibility for your respective practice area and develop and implement processes.

What will you do?

Land Development matters, reviewing agreements including Tri-Party Agreements, Site Servicing, and matters relating to Acquisitions and Dispositions of land.
Commercial matters, document management, process improvement and statements of claim.
Assisting the acquisitions team at due diligence stage and problem solving any issues on title or corporate matters.
Coordinating with the finance team and external lawyers to prepare finance packages and review finance documents for execution.
To be accountable for an exceptional standard of document management
Engaging in regular meetings to improve or set up processes for the Legal team and the whole of shared Services.
Interpreting legislation and supporting regulations and providing recommendations for best practices
Other administrative duties including, directing inquiries appropriately, record keeping, responding to interdepartmental requests, working closely with the accounting and accounts payable team, maintain legal processes and procedures, research, and cross training as required.
Other duties as required or directed.

What do we look for?

You have 10+ years’ experience as a Paralegal in Real Estate or related field.
You hold relevant post-secondary education such as a diploma in paralegal studies, legal assistant certificate, or equivalent experience.
You are experienced in Land Development in Alberta.
You have experience in managing a high-volume workload with competing priorities.
You are detail oriented, able to identify potential risks, and actively seek out solutions.
You have excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills with confidence to communicate in various environments.
You have advanced understanding of Microsoft Office products and a proficiency in Excel ability to learn new software quickly with ease.
You have a desire for continuing education and personal development and are prepared to mentor and educate your colleagues.
You have a strong ethical compass, feel comfortable expressing your opinion and providing and receiving constructive feedback.
