**Role Responsibilities**:

We are seeking a Paralegal to support the Labour and Employment Law Team (LELT). The Paralegal is responsible to provide a broad range of support to the counsel on the LELT team and provides significant contribution to effective management of human rights files, labour arbitration files and other quasi-judicial matters.

Responsibilities of this position will include:

- Provide comprehensive and planning support to LELT by managing the administrative functions related to reporting, organizational file management, evidence gathering, policies, procedures, precedents and knowledge management and sharing
- In collaboration with legal counsel, the Director, and other stakeholders, develop, draft, and continually update protocols for handling files.
- Provide litigation support during hearings, including exhibit handling and witness scheduling.
- In collaboration with legal counsel, create educational materials for clients respecting file management, processes and outcomes
- Working in collaboration with legal counsel to develop strategies and address potential issues pertaining to files.
- Maintain a high level of technical expertise with software and technology required for file management, presentation, submission filing and hearing assistance
- In collaboration with the team, draft and maintain current practice policies, procedures and templates for LELT and provide guidance to stakeholders on procedural matters
- Manage files by liaising with a variety of clients, counsel third party decision makers
- Utilize research tools such as e-Carswell, CanLii, Westlaw to pull and cite various cases and statutes;
- Other duties as required.

To be successful in this position, you must be able to perform detailed work with a high level of accuracy and have excellent organizational skills to meet deadlines while handling a high volume of work. Your ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative while working in a team environment is necessary. As well, you must be able to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, witnesses, lawyers and support staff.

**Qualifications**:
**Requirements**:

- Two year diploma in a related field such a Legal Assistant or Paralegal Diploma
- Three years progressively responsible related experience in a legal adminstraitve, assistant, or paralegal role

Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
