**Recreation/Activity Aide**

We are seeking caring individuals who can work effectively and compassionately with seniors of varying degrees of physical and cognitive abilities in long term care.

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Recreation Manager, the Activity Aide assists in planning and implementing evaluation of recreation and leisure programs to meet physical, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs of residents.

Qualifications:

- Completion of a recognized Therapeutic Recreation program (preferred) OR 2 years of recent related experience working in a long term care facility
- Valid class 4 license is an asset but not a requirement
- Current First Aid / CPR
- Food Safe Certificate
- Experience working with individuals with dementia
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Interact with others effectively, with dignity and compassion
- Assist, encourage and motivate residents to participate in programs, assist in transporting residents to and from some activities
- Lead and participate as an effective member of a team
- Computer knowledge for records documentation and program preparation
- Provides assistance, guidance & support to volunteers
- Physically able to carry out the duties of position
- Operate related equipment

Availability: days, evenings or weekends.

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $27.86 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Surrey, BC V4A4H1: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
