Activity Aide

The Activity Aide is responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of programs and services that meet the needs of residents.
Key Activities
- Assist with the development and implementation of programs and services that meet the six dimension of wellness (social, physical, intellectual, emotional, vocational and spiritual needs of all residents).
- Assist with the development and preparation of communication tools (newsletter, posters, notices, calendars, etc.).
- Inform Management of residents' concerns and issues in a timely and effective manner.
- Create a safe, pleasant, and creative recreational environment.
- Recruit residents to participate in programs.
- Document resident participation in activities and report any changes in activity levels.
- Respond to resident or family member needs and ensure appropriate action is taken.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Qualification:
- Post-secondary education in recreation, gerontolgy, social work or equivalent experience.
Experience:
- Preferably, one to three years related experience in a retirement community or health care environment.
- Previous customer service experience.
Skills & Abilities:
- Teamwork - work collaboratively on a team.
- Communication - ability to interact and communicate with internal and external customers.
- Customer experience - working with a goal towards exceeding customer experience.
- Organized - ability to maintain a safe, clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
- Computer - previous experience in using Activity Pro
Special Requirements
- Criminal Records Check.
- Class 4 Bus Driver's License.
- Driver's Abstract
- Current First Aid Certificate is an asset.
The rates below include base wage rate and wage leveling. Wage leveling is subject to the direction of the government and may be discontinued at any time in which event the applicable agreement's wage rates will prevail.
