Homeward Trust embraces the Housing First philosophy. This philosophy follows the principles of finding housing accommodations first and then establishing the supports required by the client to remain in a home. Homeward Trust Edmonton's programs involve both housing (capital project funding, property management, and sourcing access to new or existing units for client use) and supportive services to individuals in or seeking access to housing programs.
**Position Summary**
The Manager, Sector Engagement & Planning is responsible for coordinating efforts with the community to support the engagement, system planning and implementation of strategies for Edmonton's Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness (the Plan). They will work alongside the Director, Communications & Engagement and Chief Impact Officer as well as the rest of the Homeward Trust management team to ensure that the Plan stays on target, adapts to changing conditions and improves with best practices. You will do this by undertaking a data and community-informed approach to identify strategic issues and risks that affect goal achievement, leading our engagement efforts, and developing proactive recommendations and strategic plans to achieve goals.
The Manager, Sector Engagement & Planning will also be responsible for the strategic coordination and planning of several sector areas such as youth homelessness, shelter systems, emergency response and Indigenous homelessness; which includes facilitating strategic partnerships, advisory and governance committees.
You will work closely with leadership and interact with internal and external stakeholders, community members, persons with lived experience, agencies, committees, consultants, government, and industry professionals.

**Education and Experience**
- Graduate of a recognized post-secondary institution with a focus on public administration, planning, community development, housing, human services, or related discipline.
- IAP2 certification and/or training as well as Project Management training/certification are strong assets
- Progressive responsibility in a management capacity, including direct supervision and staff development.
- Prior management experience in engagement, planning, public, social or human services is preferred.
- Experience in the areas of committee facilitation, stakeholder relations, project management, and community liaison work is an asset. A combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- Prior work with marginalized populations, including people who are racialized, Indigenous, with addictions, compromised mental wellness, and who have experienced homelessness is an asset.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
- Working knowledge of the not-for-profit sector, especially organizations involved in homelessness and housing in Edmonton.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to prepare written communications in a timely, concise, and accurate manner, distilling complex issues and data to salient points.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, able to engage with stakeholders of diverse; and at times competing, interests to work towards achieving common goals.
- Highly organized and disciplined in managing projects and workflow.
- Ability to remain focused on planned outcomes while managing conflicting and divergent approaches to moving projects and committees forward.
- Proficiency in cloud-based environments and Microsoft platforms

- Strategy & Planning _
- Develop and lead the strategic implementation of committee work plans and ensure a high level of support for committee participation to advance the goals of the committee work plans.
- Support leadership to develop strategies focused on key areas of ending homelessness including Indigenous homelessness, lived expertise, youth homelessness, shelter, and outreach.
- Engage partners and key stakeholders on several major planning projects including system planning work, engagement, funding, program review, and Indigenous partnerships.
- Support participation in local, national, and international efforts to end homelessness, ensuring alignment of strategies and approaches with Homeward Trust's priorities.
