Job Summary

A Brief Overview

Reporting to the Associate Director, Partner Communications and Events, the Communications & Social Media Specialist will:
Coordinate social media tactics, which include developing content calendars and monitoring and producing reports.
Maintain a content calendar and assists with content planning.
Develop cooperative networks within the university community to share strategies and develop collaborations.
Assume virtual event platform responsibilities including knowledge of features and functionality for virtual event delivery and reporting (zoom, and/or social lives).

The incumbent must combine sound judgment, exceptional interpersonal and communications skills, strong project management skills, and attention to detail. This position plays a key role in the areas of social media, digital content development and strategic digital engagement for the Office of Advancement. The incumbent will contribute fresh ideas on how to deliver content, a deep understanding of social media platforms and best practices, and provide strategic recommendations based on audience data and insights. They will experiment with new formats and platforms and navigate the ever-changing social media landscape with ease, effectively integrate brand, voice, customer experience, issues management, crisis communications, and other aspects of communications and marketing into execution on social media. This role effectively manages social media content, programs, and campaigns, including calendar planning, content development, management, and reporting, understands and contribute to digital marketing ecosystem planning, and can effectively use paid, earned, and owned media channels.

**Job Description**:
What you will do
Designs, produces, directs and/or scripts media-based content to support strategies and projects for the unit.
Oversees the official social media accounts, including planning, developing, editing, scheduling and posting content.
Builds user engagement on official accounts, and monitors presence across social media channels.
Serves on the crisis management team. Advises, posts to and monitors social media channels during emergency situations.
Collaborates on issues management and public relations efforts.
Measures and reports on engagement and other metrics for social platforms, leverages data to recommend improvements.
Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit. Required Education
Four-Year Bachelor Degree or equivalent. In addition, requires trade certification, qualification, or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields. Required Experience
More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.
Experience in writing, interviewing, reviewing, editing and/or proofreading internal and/or external communications and documents considered an asset (e.g., social media, policy manuals, newsletters, handbooks, legal documents, forms/templates, blogs, training/reference materials, technical documents, webinars, etc.).
Experience in managing/developing strategic communication plans considered an asset.
Experience in planning and/or managing projects considered an asset. Required Licenses and Certifications
G Driver's Licence required.
Valid Passport with no travel restrictions is required.
Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
