Join the Ministry of Health in our Health Equity Policy Unit where you will manage strategic and operational policy initiatives and provide leadership to a team of professionals dedicated to improving health system outcomes across the diversity of Ontario's population. **About Us** The Health Equity Policy Unit works with partners across government and the health sector to embed health equity across Ontario's health system. Our goal is to help Ontarians reach their full health potential regardless of who they are, what they have, or where they live. Our team leads and supports initiatives that: - Further health equity through the implementation of a health equity framework. - Develop tools and support decision makers as well as teams across the ministry to embed equity in their daily work. - Provide leadership and collaborate across government on initiatives that further health equity, such as the collection of socio-demographic data. - Support the development and implementation of ministry Key Performance Indicators to measure progress on health equity. - Use health equity principles and practices to inform government policy and project development in order to address equity of access, quality, and outcomes. **OPS Commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Anti-Racism**: We are committed to build a workforce that reflects the communities we serve and to promote a diverse, anti-racist, inclusive, accessible, merit-based, respectful and equitable workplace. Refer to the "How to apply" section if you require a disability-related accommodation. **What can I expect to do in this role?**: Reporting to the Director, Indigenous, French Language and Priority Populations, you will: - Empower your team of professional staff to grow and develop to their full potential, fostering a culture of diversity, inclusion, equity, and excellence - Lead and manage the planning, development, research, and evaluation of strategic and operational policy initiatives, including support for alignment/compliance with legislation - Provide expertise and advice to ministry senior management and staff on policy options, recommendations, issues management strategies, and areas for improvement and transformation - Oversee partnership and consensus building in developing, promoting, delivering and evaluating programs that support ministry strategies and goals - Build and foster on-going strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders - Leverage your policy and program leadership and strategic influencing skills to strengthen the capacity within your team and your division. - Support Employee Engagement activities at the Branch, Division and Ministry level. **How do I qualify?**: **Leadership Skills**: - You demonstrate the **leadership behaviours, attributes and mindsets** to lead the OPS into the future - You have leadership skills and experience to lead, mentor, motivate and engage a high performing diverse team to achieve high quality and timely results during a period of transformation and fiscal restraint - You can foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment with employees, colleagues and stakeholders - You have strategic planning and program design skills which will allow you to continue the coordination and implementation of an health equity framework and resources to meet sector needs - You are committed to innovation and service excellence and motivate staff through change **Healthy Equity Expertise**: - You have strong knowledge and understanding of equity and human rights issues and their relevance to Ontario's health system - You exercise a high level of political acuity and judgement when developing and providing advice for confidential/sensitive issues - You have knowledge of economic analysis, quantitative research methods and including environmental scans **Project Management and Analytical Skills**: - You have knowledge of project management principles to oversee and guide the delivery of policy strategies and mandat
