We are currently recruiting a Systems Administrator for our Dartmouth, NS location. This position is located in the office on a full-time basis.
Reporting to the Manager, Information Services, the System Administrator will work closely with internal teams and external service providers, they will ensure that all IT systems, software, and hardware function. Responsibilities include managing a hybrid environment with on premises Active Directory synced to Azure AD, Windows-based servers, desktops, laptops, Apple and Android mobile devices, networking equipment, backup systems.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- ** System Deployment and Imaging** - Assist in deploying new systems, including ordering hardware, imaging computers, installing software and ensuring proper configurations.
- ** Helpdesk Support** - Provide support for hardware and software issues with a strong focus on delivering exceptional customer service. Manage user account creation and permissions through Active Directory, including remote support as required.
- ** Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution** - Diagnose and resolve complex system and network issues, ensuring mínimal downtime and impact on business operations.
- ** Network Administration** - Configure, monitor, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless networks to ensure secure and reliable connectivity across all locations.
- ** Security & Compliance -** Implement and maintain firewall security policies, patch management, and cybersecurity best practices to protect IT infrastructure.
- ** Security Management -** Implement and maintain robust security measures, including firewalls, and patch management to safeguard systems and networks.
- ** Backup & Disaster Recovery**: Oversee backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, Acronis, Azure Backup) and develop strategies for business continuity.
- ** Collaboration & Vendor Management -** Work with third-party vendors to implement IT-related projects and solutions.
- ** Server Administration -** Manage on-premises and cloud-based servers, including installation, configuration, and performance optimization.
- ** Documentation and Reporting -** Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of IT systems, processes, network layout and network configurations.
- ** After-Hours Support -** Participate in a shared on-call rotation for critical system support.
**Required Knowledge and Training includes**:
- Education & Certifications: Diploma or degree in Information Technology. Certifications such as MCSA, CCNA, Fortinet NSE are an asset.
- 2-5+ years in IT support system administration, or network management.
- Proficiency in network administration, including LAN, WAN, routers, switches, and firewalls. Cisco Meraki experience is an asset.
- Windows Server expertise, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and Intune configuration.
- Knowledge of backup & disaster recovery solutions and cybersecurity best practices.
- Strong understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN’s, VLANs, Firewalls).
- Expertise in Hybrid Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and Intune configuration.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization and with external vendors while demonstrating a positive attitude.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with mínimal supervision, while also thriving in a team-oriented environment.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, as this position will be required to support the other facilities.
