**Full-Time Community Connections Specialist, Newcomer Programs**

**Position Type**: Full-Time Position; 35 hours/week (Contract Position)

**Contract Length**: Nov 1, 2025 - March 31, 2026 (with a possibility of extension depending on funding availability)

We offer settlement services and language classes for newcomers and comprehensive employment services for job seekers and local businesses. **Our Customer Service Vision: Making it Easy to Ask, Participate and Give**

The Community Connections Specialist is responsible for coordinating and expanding the EH Café English Conversation Circles across Caledon Public Library branches and other community sites (including virtual delivery). The role ensures smooth program delivery, supports newcomer integration through informal language practice and peer connections, and strengthens partnerships between CCS, CPL, and other stakeholders. The Specialist will recruit, train, and support volunteers (in coordination with CCS HR), collect and report program data, and act as the primary liaison with library and other community partners. This dedicated role builds capacity to sustain and grow EH Café as a formal Community Connections activity, aligned with IRCC’s outcomes of enhancing social networks, fostering welcoming communities, and supporting newcomer settlement.

This position will require occasional evenings and travel between service delivery sites.

**Position Deliverables/Accountabilities**:

- Plan, coordinate, and oversee the delivery of EH Café English Conversation Circles across Caledon Public Library branches and other community organizations.
- Serve as the liaison between CCS, CPL, and other stakeholders to ensure responsive and coordinated programming.
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers in collaboration with CCS Human Resources.
- Develop session frameworks, materials, and tools to support effective facilitation.
- Act as an EH Café facilitator when a regular volunteer is not available.
- Promote EH Café through outreach, marketing, and community engagement efforts.
- Monitor participation and gather program data, including attendance, volunteer involvement, and participant feedback.
- Report program outputs and outcomes in alignment with IRCC performance measurement expectations.
- Expand community connections activities in line with IRCC’s Community Connections stream, including:

- Designing and delivering informal language learning opportunities (e.g., conversation circles, peer support groups).
- Facilitating multicultural, cross-cultural, and civic engagement initiatives to foster social inclusion.
- Supporting newcomers’ introduction to public institutions and community partners.
- Coordinate barrier-reducing support services to ensure equitable access to community programming.
- Build and nurture meaningful partnerships with community organizations, employers, civic groups, and public institutions.
- Assist with Information and Orientation (I&O) services by providing newcomers with accurate information about community resources, public services, and settlement supports.
- Conduct needs assessments and make appropriate referrals to ensure newcomers are connected to settlement, language, and community services.
- Ensure programs are inclusive, welcoming, and responsive to the diverse needs of newcomers.
- Actively participate in CCS team meetings and contribute to agency-wide initiatives.
- Other related duties as required to support the success of newcomer programming and align with IRCC priorities.

**Summary of Qualifications**:
**Education / Requirements**:

- Two (2) year College Diploma in Community Services, Social Sciences, Education, or related discipline, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.

**Nature of Experience Required**:

- 2 to 5 years’ experience coordinating community programs, preferably in the newcomer, settlement, or not-for-profi
