Summary of Position:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the incumbent coordinates all aspects of Association and Community Centre Events including Vic West Fest, Breakfast with Santa, Halloween Fun Fest and other seasonal and community.

Background:
The Victoria West Community Association (VWCA) is a non-profit community group that promotes the interests of the residents of the Victoria West neighbourhood. This is accomplished mainly through the many hours of volunteer work by its membership, the community and funding support from the City of Victoria.

The VWCA supports various committees and projects, including Land Use, Projects and Events, Parks and Environment, Food Security, Governance, Community Centre, Harbour, Transportation and Communications.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate Community Events, Community Involvement Projects, and Assignments
- Coordinate all VWCA events including small, large, and signature community events.
- Work with volunteer committees to ensure events reflect the desires and needs of the community.
- Manage all aspects of event planning meeting strict deadlines and budget demands
- Coordinates event sponsorship with local community partners.
- Nurture and build relationships with local governments, businesses, and other partners to craft and implement creative and logístical aspects of all events
- Attends all events and acts as the key contact to ensure success
- Evaluate events through participant feedback and update checklists, templates, project plans, and other tools to streamline and simplify execution the next time a similar event is conducted
- Plan and conduct event outreach and promotional activities through online communications, digital communications, and mobile platforms.
- Write content and edit text and graphic material, including flyers, brochures, newsletters and assist in coordinating the production of print/graphic materials.

Administrative duties
- Organize and maintain records and reports.
- Creates and distributes messages to membership as required.

Examples of Work Assigned:

- Attend VWCA Board and Committee meetings, as requested, to hear community concerns, provide information about community events, and advocate for participation.
- Identify, initiate, and deepen relationships with various community partners/stakeholders.
- Maintain a database of local businesses and stakeholders.
- Coordinate VWCA events including Breakfast with Santa, Vic West Fest, Halloween Fun-Fest, Speakers nights, and Community Garage Sales.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Event Management, Marketing, Communications, Business or related field.
- Facilitation and group problem-solving skills, with the ability to motivate others and work as a team member
- Previous experience in successful community engagement projects
- Demonstrated ability to work within a community setting with diverse populations, including community groups, government, professional staff, and volunteers
- Clear Criminal Record check; First Aid and CPR certifications.
- Knowledgeable and passionate about community building
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Facebook, and website maintenance.
- Familiarity working within a non-profit organization.
- Ability to work independently, with mínimal oversight.
- Ability to perform moderate physical labour.
- Flexibility and enthusiasm.
- Ability to successfully manage a wide array of tasks and projects and to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.

Compensation: $21/hour plus 4% for vacation

Hours: Up to 30 hours per week plus time at events. Daytime and evening shifts are required. Hours may fluctuate due to the needs of the Association.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 22.5 - 40 per week

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift

Supplemental pay types:

- Overtime pay
