**Position Title: Communications & Engagement Assistant**

CRFAIR is a not-for-profit community based organization that acts as a coordinating backbone to a network of food, farm and health organizations (The Good Food Network) working to promote healthy and sustainable food systems in the Capital Region. To learn more about our work, visit.

The collective work: Since 2015, the Good Food Network has been working to transform our regional food system. Through advancing Food Access, the Local Food Economy, and Food Literacy across the region, the Network has worked to nurture a healthier and more sustainable food system, providing good food for all. In 2018, we created a comprehensive outcomes map that identified our key indicators and goals for the **Good Food 2025 initiative**. With 2025 marking the beginning of our evolution process, we’re taking this opportunity to evaluate our progress on these key indicators.

As Communications & Engagement Assistant you will work supporting the Youth Food Network and the Seeding Young Farmers reels project, the Good Food 2025 Evolution initiative, and the Good Food Gathering event. Your work will involve videography, video editing, graphic design, social media, and event planning skills. We are looking for someone who values collaborative, inclusive, and creative work as a way to connect and engage community based work.

**Qualifications & Skills**:

- Be eligible under Canada Summer Jobs guidelines: Applicants MUST be between 18 - 30 years old, and be a Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen
- Willingness to adhere to workplace policies and safety procedures
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Have experience and knowledge of online platforms and virtual tools (Facebook, Instagram, Hootsuite, Mailchimp, Google Workspace tool, Canva, Wix, Slack, etc)
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Videography, basic camera skills, lighting awareness, and framing for social media content
- Photography and Graphic Design skills
- Have access to a vehicle and a valid full BC drivers license.
- A passion for strengthening our local food system and food security

**Related Field of Studies**:

- Visual Arts, Environmental Sciences, Food Sciences, Communications, Marketing, Geography, or Social Sciences.

**Responsibilities**:

- Support program development and event planning
- Create promotional materials and social media content
- Story boarding & scripting, shooting video, editing, posting
- Attend team meetings and support organizations initiatives as needed

**Working Conditions**:
**Physical Effort**: Sit with arms unsupported while typing (computer work); Standing for long periods of time (often) lift and move up to 25lbs event totes and materials (occasional).

**Mental Effort**:Focus on a variety of tasks; meet project deadlines; meeting and event hosting (occasional)

**Sensory Load**: Mostly low with occasional high sensory input during events, meetings, and on site.

**Auditory**:Overlapping conversations and shouting over noise;
**Visual**:Fast-paced movement—people, Fluctuating lighting (bright fluorescents or dim corners); High visual clutter—stacked boxes and supplies (occasionally)

**Work Environment**: Home office and shared office spaces (often), community spaces, event venues indoors (occasional) venues outdoors, farms, community gardens (often), warehouse and commercial kitchen (occasional)
