**Job Summary**
Are you passionate about making a positive impact in others' lives? Look no further, Vela Canada is assisting in the search for an exceptional, **part-time, Community Support Worker** to support a delightful woman. This position aims to provide individual-centered assistance to help maintain her independence while achieving her personal goals. As her support worker, you will be performing the following duties and responsibilities.
- Provides companionship and safe environment for individual
- Consistently assess individual's needs and wants with Microboard member(s) to generate short-term schedules
- Identify social, economic, recreational, physical, and educational programs/services to assist the individual achieve personal goal and develop relationships within the community
- Assist individual in performing household duties and daily activities in an independent manner
- Accompanies and/or individual medical appointments, recreational, social and leisure activities
- Other assigned duties

**Qualifications**
Education & Experience Requirements
- Community Support Worker and/or Social worker certificate
- Experience as a community support and/or social worker
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual, behavioral, and physical challenges
- Valid driver’s license
Skills, Abilities & Knowledge
- Knowledgeable of the local community, activities, and events
- Ability to support individuals who communicate through behavioral and physically means in a dignified manner
- Ability to the work as team player with family, friends, and Microboard members
- Empathy, patience and a compassionate approach
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Understanding of client confidentiality and privacy
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Basic computer literacy
**Special Requirements**
- Must provide a complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check (including criminal record check) or be willing to obtain on
- Valid driver’s abstract from ICBC
- Reliable vehicle
- Completed and signed Medical Consent Form
- Flu shot, Hepatitis B Vaccine, Covid - 19 Vaccines, Tuberculosis screening
**Job Type**: Part-time
**Salary**: $20.00-$23.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 30 per week
