Coordinator, International

Delta’s International Student Program has been recognized globally for our professionalism, quality of our communication, degree of care and strong customer/student service orientation. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to work particularly with our elementary aged students, their parents, and teachers.

The International Coordinator (Elementary) will report to the Director of International Student Programs and will work with the District Administrators of International Programs, Homestay Manager/Coordinators, and the Cultural Support Workers to:

- communicate with and support Elementary International Students from their acceptance in the program, through arrival, entry into school and their time in Delta.
- provide timely communication in a culturally aware and sensitive manner to parents and agents regarding student progress, behaviour, and well-being.
- organize orientations for students and their parents.
- communicate with and support school-based administration and classroom and ELL teachers in teaching International Students
- keep track of student’s arrivals/departures and coordinate with the school regarding these
- keep records of interactions and interventions with students
- advocate for International Students and the Program
- assist with the planning and organization of short-term programs and summer programs.
- work collaboratively and collegially with the International Programs Staff
- promote and participate in initiatives that will lead to the continued viability and growth of International Student Program
- other duties as assigned.
- have education and experience pertaining to ELL learners.
- have experience working in a multicultural setting.
- have a drivers' license and be willing to spend part of each week visiting students in schools.
- be willing to step in outside of school hours/weekends with emergent situations, assistance with field trips, etc.
- be willing to travel if needed and feasible.

Knowledge of another language is an asset.
