Are you experienced in scientific and mathematical processes and have the mechanical knowledge to operate standard chemical treatment machinery?

You have strong analytical and critical thinking skills and prioritise paying attention to small details to manage operations effectively. Because you will be joining a small team of chemical engineers, excellent communication should be a priority for you, and you should be skilled at collaborating with others. Finally, as a chemical plant engineer, you will have excellent endurance and physical strength.

**Salary Range**:
Starting Salary is $22-25 per hour *Will be increased with proven work ability after a probationary period of 3 months.

**Responsibilities**:

- Using scientific, mathematical, and engineering principles to solve problems and improve processes
- Monitor instruments on one or more chemical formulation units
- Measure, weigh and load chemical ingredients following formulation cards
- Record production information
- Start up, shut down and troubleshoot equipment
- Take samples and perform tests to ensure the process is progressing properly
- Perform routine chemical and physical tests of products
- Operate equipment from a control room or from control consoles located near the production units
- Adjust processing machines and equipment
- Monitor reaction processes and transfers of products in conformance with safety procedures
- Perform general labouring duties
- Move, sort and pile materials and products
- Feed and unload production machinery and equipment
- Clean chemical processing machines and equipment and production areas
- Designing, proposing, implementing, reviewing, and correcting plans to ensure company goals are achieved
- Observing production processes, conducting research, and finding ways to increase efficiency and quality
- Establishing safety and waste management procedures
- Monitor chemical treatment machines and instruments, including flow metres and machine dials, to ensure machinery is operating correctly at all times
- Follow all safety policies at all times to prevent injury and ensure the finished product meets regulations for distribution
- Examine chemical processing machinery daily to identify damages or erosion, making note of any instances and reporting them to management staff when it is safe to do so

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor degree in chemistry or related scientific field *Industry-specific knowledge may be required
- Strong understanding of chemistry, mathematics, biology, and engineering principles
- Ability to cooperate and communicate with others
- Computer literacy
- Exceptional problem solving, verbal and written communication, presentation, and project management skills.
- Criminal Background Check will be required
- Ability to lift up to 45 kg (100 lbs)

**Preferred**:

- Two years minimum working experience in mechanical engineering or chemical engineering plant
- Experience working with or making epoxy is an asset
