**The Position**
Mem7iman Child Development Centre (MCDC) is a Reggio-inspired child development and Outdoor Education program for children aged 6 months to 5 years old. Our Reggio Emilia approach to education incorporates an inquiry-driven, play-based foundation and uses the child’s interests to direct our emergent curriculum. In addition, we provide a culturally rich learning experience that connects our children with our community and the rich natural landscapes that surround us.
The Assistant Manager will be required to perform an array of routine administrative duties, including drafting and editing time-sensitive correspondence, taking minutes, preparing presentation materials, supporting the manager with various tasks, and maintaining and keeping student files up to date.
- Assist with preparing and monitoring the annual budget program and expend funds according to the Nation and Provincial Licensing guidelines.
- Lead the Centre in the absence of the manager.
- Assist with collaborating with lead teachers in planning the programs from start to completion.
- Assist with planning, developing, scheduling and/or providing in-service training for ECE staff.
- Opens main facility doors at the start of the day and closes and secures the building at the end of the day.
- Provide secretarial and administrative support to management and other staff.
- Use computer word processing, spreadsheet, and database software to prepare reports, memos and documents.
- Purchase, receive and store the office supplies and ensure that basic supplies are always available.
- Prepare and assist with coding and file material according to the established procedures.
- With the Manager, prepare meeting agendas and supporting material for distribution Code and file financial material according to established records management procedures.
- Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timelines and accuracy of information.
- Knowledge and understanding of the development of children and their mental, physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs
- Ability to work closely in a team environment.
- Perform other tasks within the scope of the position.
**Qualifications, Skills and Abilities**:
- ECE Certificate, Diploma or Degree
- Valid ECE License - registered in BC - must be maintained throughout employment
- Post-secondary education in ECCE, Business, Computers, Assistant Manager Program or Office Management is an asset.
- 1-3 years’ experience in an office setting.
- Valid CPR and First Aid Certificate. Clear Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector).
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Knowledge and understanding of Reggio Inspired program and Outdoor Education Program.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others both internally and externally.
