As the Hospitality Services Supervisor, you are responsible for creating a supportive and empowered work environment, while organizing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the department. Reporting to the Manager of Laundry and Housekeeping, you have the opportunity to provide strong leadership and instruction to your colleagues of the department to maintain smooth operations and a sense of purpose and belonging. You will lead the department with empathy and passion, while encouraging an environment of respect, responsibility and resilience through integrity, team building, engagement, professional development and collaboration. As a Hospitality Services Supervisor, you will work in a modern laundry and housekeeping environment in a professional role where the responsibilities provide for a high degree of self-direction in setting work priorities.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Ensure the performance and presentation of the department and colleagues adequately meets the _School_standards and expectations by providing clear guidance and coaching to colleagues to ensure their success, and growth, while maintaining a cohesive, energetic and caring team. Communicate areas of opportunity and growth to the Manager of Laundry and Housekeeping;
- Collaborate with faculty, administration, House Parents, Events Manager and other departments to ensure their needs and expectations are met;
- Ensure staffing levels are met for shift operations by creating and maintaining team schedules, and be responsible for adjusting work schedules as needed;
- Participate in interviewing, selection, onboarding and training when hiring new staff for the department;
- Manage inventory and equipment for the department, make recommendations for new inventory, supplies and equipment; coordinate regular inspections and repairs in a timely and proactive manner;
- Developing and maintaining policies, procedures and training manuals, including safety procedures for equipment operation, handling chemicals, personal protective equipment, and cleaning equipment;
- Assist in developing standards, collecting data and creating reports to further advance the long-term capital plan for the department;
- Provide regular inspections to ensure appropriate cleanings levels and our high standards are met;
- Promote safe work practices and ensure that department colleagues follow WorkSafe BC guidelines;
- Maintain professional relationships with various suppliers related to the department and work closely to gain product knowledge and expertise;
- Establish a high comfort level of all department positions, in the event that hands on coverage is needed, support the department where required and according to operational needs;
**Key Experience and Skills**
- Proven ability to create and lead successful, passionate and empowered teams through team building, engagement and empathy;
- Ability to lead by example and provide clear direction, training and feedback to staff;
- Strong time-management, organizational, communication and decision-making skills;
- Plans according to deadlines, and adjusts as required;
- Experience with or knowledge of commercial/industrial/hospitality housekeeping or laundry environment, or a strong willingness to learn on the job;
- Adept at responding to changing business needs, including emergency situations or unforeseen events.
- Leads with a positive and professional mindset, solution-focused;
- Strong knowledge of WHMIS and SDS systems or willingness to learn on the job; must be safety aware.

**Education and Experience**
- Hospitality Management Diploma considered an asset;
- First Aid and WHMIS certification an asset;
- Leadership experience in a similar field is an asset.
