We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Emergency Management Specialist to join our Risk Management team in Langley, BC.
Reporting to the Manager, Risk & Audit, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and resilience of our operations during emergency situations. The primary purpose of this position is to develop comprehensive emergency management plans and protocols for all entities within our organization, including grocery stores and food manufacturing facilities. By leveraging expertise in emergency preparedness, risk assessment, and crisis response, the Emergency Management Specialist will contribute to safeguarding our employees, assets, and the continuity of our operations.
You will be responsible for:
- Collaborating with stakeholders across all entities within the organization to assess potential risks and vulnerabilities related to emergency situations.- Developing and maintaining emergency management plans, policies, and procedures tailored to each entity, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices.- Conducting risk assessments, audits, and hazard analyses to review and assess effectiveness of emergency plans and identifying critical areas requiring mitigation strategies.- Serving as a key point of contact during emergencies, establishing communication protocols, emergency contact lists, and notification systems to facilitate timely and effective emergency response.- Assessing the impact of incidents and supporting the development and implementation of business continuity plans to minimize disruption to operations.- Designing and delivering training programs to test and enhance emergency preparedness and response capabilities for employees at all levels.- Providing guidance and resources to educate employees on emergency response procedures, evacuation protocols, and safety measures specific to grocery and food manufacturing environments.- Maintaining accurate records of incidents, response actions, and lessons learned to inform future emergency management strategies.- Developing metrics and performance indicators to monitor the organization's emergency preparedness and response capabilities, reporting findings to management, and recommending enhancements.
You have:
- A bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management (or a relevant discipline) or equivalent combination of education & experience.- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Emergency Management and Business Continuity.- In-depth knowledge of emergency management principles, practices, and regulatory requirements.- Strong analytical skills to assess risks, develop mitigation strategies, and make informed decisions during emergencies.- Experience developing and facilitating learning and development.

- An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization and external agencies.- Able to design and deliver training programs and exercises.- Organized and are able to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced environments.- You are self-aware and empathetic and possess a high level of Emotional Intelligence (EQ).
