Program Specialist (CEO Office) - Full Time, Permanent

**Location**: Toronto area, requiring 1 day a week working in our Toronto office

MakeWay is a leading foundation and charity building solutions and partnerships to help nature and communities thrive together. MakeWay supports community transformation led by Indigenous people, women, racialized communities, and youth working at the intersection of social justice, economic well-being, and a healthy environment. MakeWay is unique in Canada with its focus on Northern, remote and Indigenous communities -- able to leverage our special set of tools including grants, operational supports, community and donor advised funds and funding collaboratives.

With an exciting new ambitious strategy, we are expanding our team. This role is new, providing direct support to the CEO’s strategic partnerships, projects and initiatives, as well as support for events, fundraising, research and proposal writing.

**What You’ll Do**:

- Draft proposals and grant requests, case for support, and impact reports.
- Support with events (planning and hosting) that are led by the CEO both on-line and in person for our program or funder partners.
- Provide research support to CEO to help advance MakeWay’s strategy (for speeches, articles).
- Help steward the CEO’s key external relationships.
- Where possible, represent CEOs office at external events (some travel may be required).
- Write relevant staff internal communications.
- Ensure administration, finance, and data relevant to the role is organized and managed effectively.
- Participate in all aspects of team workflow, including shared accountability for revenue and expense management, and delivering of outcomes.
- Other duties as required.

**Experience You Bring**:

- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Organization skills, commitment to detail, having pulled off a few successful events
- Experience with proposal writing, fundraising, and conducting research
- Working across multiple diversities (regions, perspectives, cultures, ages)
- Ability to work with limited supervision
- Commitment to truth and reconciliation, inclusion, justice, and equity
- Experience in the charitable/non-profit sector

**It would be a bonus if you have**:

- Experience working with Indigenous communities
- Experience working for climate action or nature

**What We Offer**:

- Salary of $60,410 - $66,713 (dependent on experience you bring)
- Competitive benefits package including health, dental, and an annual RRSP-contribution
- Three weeks’ vacation plus statutory holidays. MakeWay has implemented a Substitution Statutory Holiday policy which allows employees the flexibility to substitute another day for a statutory holiday. In addition, the MakeWay office is closed annually for a winter holiday break.
