We are looking for a part time Cook to join our team at the Leacock Retirement Lodge in Orillia, On. The Cook position is responsible for the daily preparation of menu items, working side by side with the Culinary Manager, maintaining a clean sanitary professional working space and helping with the presentation of menu items for service.
**Main Duties And Responsibilities**:
- Prepares meals according to standardized recipes and menus as posted and in accordance with legislative requirements
- Conform to Public Health Standards and Legislative standards regarding food handling, storage and personal hygiene
- Must participate in various lodge and provincial committees
- Responsible to report any pertinent information regarding resident condition change to supervisors
- Document as per department policy
- Must actively participate in ongoing educational opportunities
- Required to promote wellness as a concept of living
- Participates as required in the formulation, maintenance, implementation of departmental policies and procedures, goals and objectives
- Works cooperatively with volunteers and student placements to enhance the scope of the department
- Responsible for the care and operation of food service equipment
- Uses supplies and equipment efficiently and effectively
- Provides input as required and as per resident’s likes and dislikes on menu planning and changes
- Assists in planning and organizing food preparation to ensure all meals and snacks are served on time at an appropriate temperature, texture and quantity
- Is competent in the safe use of chemicals (WHMIS guidelines)
- Ensures food is served in accordance with health and food guidelines.
