Compensation Range

The UBC Sauder Learning Labs is a unique collaborative, interactive learning space. Using technology, the Learning Labs can wirelessly display multiple sources to multiple screens simultaneously, adjust audio sources and levels, facilitate interactive webinars/web conferences and provide a learning platform to sharing information seamlessly from table to table, room to room and to the rest of the world, all the while having the ability to record the events unfold in the rooms. The Learning Labs have been recognized internationally as an innovative educational space that has been (and continues to be) the inspiration for new learning spaces at UBC and across the country.

The Learning Labs Coordinator manages the technological needs of the learning labs. This includes providing technical advice and support to users of the facilities in support of academic courses, as well as other academic and non-academic events at UBC. This position manages regular preventative maintenance of specialized equipment and AV related IT systems. The Learning Labs Coordinator diagnoses client needs and determines effective solutions.

This role requires flexibility as some work must be performed outside of regular business operating hours. The Learning Labs Coordinator may also be required to act in an on-call capacity in extenuating circumstances.

Organizational Status

Reports to the Production Manager, Academic Video and Digital Media, with additional accountability within Learning Services as required. Contacts and works with various groups within UBC Sauder and the UBC community.

Work Performed- Provides faculty, employees, students and other users of the labs advice, guidance and recommendations on best practices in the planning and preparation of webinars, video conferencing, and AV capture sessions.- Ensures all necessary AV equipment (such as camera, recording and streaming devices) are delivered, set up, properly configured, and tested for the session.- Makes necessary arrangements and owns the details associated with project and support planning/timelines/implementation/close-out activities for UBC Sauder Learning Labs.- Manages AV needs of courses and events at the Learning Labs.- Manages equipment inventory for the Learning Labs.- Prioritizes, schedules and delegates work to technicians, WorkLearn and other student workers of the unit.- Responsible for management of WhentoWork schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for the labs.- Integrates content delivery systems with on-site technology systems to ensure captured content meets requirements for stakeholders, in particular students and instructors.-
