Our Edmonton Support Office is looking for the right individual to fill the key role of Accounts Payable Lead. This position is responsible for overseeing the accounts payable team, ensuring the accuracy of the accounts payable subledger, performing full cycle accounts payable accounting functions for all of gravitypope’s operating companies, and for providing support to other members of the Finance & Accounting Team. This position will work directly to improve the processes, procedures and activities of the accounts payable department and requires regular interaction with other internal departments. A successful Accounts Payable Lead should be familiar with all general accounting procedures, be very detail-oriented and have a desire to collaborate and assist other members within the organization.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Oversee and assist the accounts payable team with all accounts payable related functions
- Process and match a high volume of invoices in both domestic and foreign currencies
- Investigating and resolving purchase order, invoice, or payment discrepancies
- Facilitate weekly payments and process electronic payments and wire transfers
- Monitoring payment due dates and ensuring time sensitive payments are processed efficiently
- Ensure proper approval of all invoices and follow-up on credit requests and other outstanding AP issues
- Reconciling vendor and general ledger accounts and generating related adjustments or entries as required
- Update cash and currency projections and prepare weekly accounts payable related financial reports for the CEO and Director of Finance
- Assist with full-cycle month-end accounting including preparation of monthly journal entries, bank reconciliation, daily sales entries and other month-end/year-end closing work as assigned
- Assist with performing various clerical duties such as preparing correspondence, sorting mail, data entry, and filing as needed
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Commerce/Business Administration
- 2+ years in a dynamic accounting environment, including experience in a senior Accounts Payable role
- Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, rules, and internal controls
- Demonstrated abilities in coordinating priorities and adhering to rigid time schedules
- Able to perform complex account reconciliations
- Advanced proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft 365/Office suite.
- Excellent numerate and analytical skills. High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize workloads and the flexibility to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Self-motivated and driven to continuously improve and add value to the organization.
- Strong understanding of the retail industry
